I worked at a Honda dealer and I always told guys to treat the cars respectfully for this exact reason, not only because it was the right thing to do. It makes me sick when I hear things like this. However, it goes on MORE than you would think.
Here's a story from just yesterday and Princeton BMW. (I'm currently looking for a 750LI)
I finish my test drive on the car, and it drove great. I'm looking around the car, and I hear tires squealing harshly. I look, and it's one of the technicians drifting an older 328i (04 body style) around the back lot turn. Then he drives by, and gives the salesman I'm dealing with a thumbs up. The salesman says something along the lines of they are driven hard to make sure they aren't broke when given back to the customer. He then tells me that is one of their used car tech's. I look at the 750 (a luxury non sporty car), and walk away. He was wondering why I was't interested. I'm not going to buy a car that was beat to **** like that, when it wasn't built for anything close to beating on.

I heard about this on another forum. The dealer actually threatened to sue the owner over his posting the recording online. In the end the owner won though. The dealer had to buy the car back at above blue book and in order to save face donated it to a charity auction.
