MIR Rental Fri, 27 Sept
757GOAT is doing a track rental at MIR on Friday, 27th Sept, and are looking for a few more cars to fill out the roster.
All RWD vehicles are welcome. If you've never been on a track before, now is your chance to practice in a stress-free environment.
Cost is $110 to include car fee and track prep. Unused track prep money will be refunded.
The gates open around 8:30am, track usually opens around 9:30am, and runs until 5pm. All the passes you can make, with virtually no wait.
I need 8 pre-paid by Monday, Sept 23rd, or I'll have to cancel and refund everyone their money. You can paypal me at jrkortze@gmail.com. Please either send it as a gift, or include 3% to cover fees.
You can search me on ls1gto, I've been handling the rentals for 757GOAT since 2010, so I'm legit, I'm not some ******* that's going to take your money.
Post up if you're interested or have any questions. We usually grill out or do cold cuts for lunch, everyone brings something, once I have a better idea of who is going, I'll post a food list (probably by the end of the week).
Spectators (are usually) free. They're free for this rental. Sometimes if MIR is having an event on Friday night, they require you to purchase a ticket ahead of time, and then get refunded on your way out (so that no one hangs out in the pits and sneaks in), but last I heard they just have test and tune that night, so I don't think there will be anything of the such.
If you're going to bring spectators, please post how many so that I can figure them into the food list.

FOOD
We're going to do food a little differently this time. My grill is broke and I don't have time to fix it, so we're going to do cold-cuts. We're looking at 25-30 people, so I talked to Steve, and we decided the club is going to spring to cover the sandwiches. I will take care of buying all that stuff so that we've got enough and it can all be purchased in bulk to save $.
Everyone else should bring a side dish (chips, some sort of salad, or?), or dessert. I need three volunteers for drinks... two bringing soda, one bringing water. I assume Scott will want to bring soda, so I need one more soda, and a water. I will bring all the necessary plates, silverware, cups etc.
Soda- Scott

Water- Mike
Caravan Plans:
The plan is, those that want to caravan from the Southside, we'll meet up at the 7-11 on Indian River Road at 4am, and leave at 4:30am. We'll get to Pop's Drive-In on Rt. 17 in Yorktown at about 5:15-5:30am. This is where those who don't want to drive out to Indian River Road will meet us (you'll probably want to just meet us here since Indian River Road is way out of your way). POPS DOES NOT TAKE CREDIT CARDS... BRING CASH
We'll leave Pop's at about 6:15am- 6:30am, and MIR is about 2.5 hours away. Once we're there it takes about a solid hour to get going. They don't open the gates till 8:30 at the earliest... we have to sign in, get a sticker, mark numbers on the cars, and negotiate track prep with whomever else is running that day.
***Don't forget toll for the Coleman Bridge... $2

Prep depends mainly on if there's another group there with us. We shoot for the 330', but it's not guaranteed; best I can do is wait until we get there and see what kind of deal I can work out with the leader from the other group.
If we can get it split up so that street tires are in one lane and slicks in the other, then we'll probably prep the slicks lane to the 330'. However, if the other group wants their own lane specifically and we're stuck running streets and slicks in the same lane, it doesn't make any sense to go past the 60'.
I've never had an issue before, where we couldn't agree to put streets on one side, and slicks on the other.

Damnit! If my car was ready I'd be all over this. Those within a couple hours of MIR should take this opportunity to go and make 20 or more passes on a very nice track lol Do you think you guys are going to do another rental before the track closes in Nov?

I usually try to do two a year, once in the spring and once in the fall, and I usually have to cancel the spring time because I can't string 8 cars together.
If you get your car together before the end of the season, call MIR up and tell them you're trying to catch on with a rental group... sometimes they'll put you in contact with an upcoming rental group. Back in 2010 or 2011 they did that with my rental... pretty sure they sent 5 cars my way that just showed up with cash the day of.

I'd rather not have too big of a crowd. We've got enough guys paid now to make the cutoff. If you've got some friends that you want to come then by all means invite them, but we don't really need any more than that... so I don't want to reach out to other places just for the sake of filling the place up.
There's likely already going to be another group there as well, so if we start pushing 20 or 30 cars in our group, then it'll get crowded quick.

Actually, already had one of the guys in the club roger up for water.
Edit: if you want to bring some as well, that'll probably be fine. I'm sure we'll have plenty of food, so bring whatever.
Weather is looking really good... I'm not even going to get to run my car, and I still can't wait.
