Looks like it will only be 1/8th mile but still another option to keep it off the streets.

That's like 20-30 min from me. Still only 1/8 mile and according to their website...

"We're getting many responses on the various forums, most of them are really positive. Of course there are a couple of negative Nancy's out there, but again most of the responses have been very good.

Some of the conversations are regarding our decision to go with an 1/8 rather than a 1/4 mile. While most are thrilled with a track coming back to CT, there are a few that think we should be building a 1/4 mile track. These are people that have never been to an 1/8 mile facility, so this is understandable. There are many reasons..."

So if I believe they should do a 1/4 track that means I have never been to a 1/8 track?
What kind of ******* writes that ****? http://hdra.net/news.html

Besides the idiot who wrote that, lol it will be cool to at least have 1/8 mile track so close. But seeing how these are the same people that do the gay *** 100' drags in Waterford they might have the same gay *** rules like...FOUR POINT ROLL BAR FOR 1.99 AND QUICKER. How stupid is that? LOL
Hopefully they will operate under IHRA rules instead.

a track in CT is awesome even if it is only 1/8th mile...and safety if most important, people who bitch about safety rules are usually the same who are first to sue when they wreck and get hurt due to not having proper safety equipment

Ihave an 1/8 mile track 40 minutes from me - havent been there in about 25 years , been down to NED many many times since ..

Granted most of what happens of substance in a 1/4 mile race takes place by the midway point but the standard of drag racing is 1/4 mile , they know this and thats why they are being so defensive and trying to re-direct

That would be awesome. If you got the front half down, the back half is easy.

Im still pretty excited even with 1/8 mile, I was on the fence about selling my Trans Am but now I may just do gears and a pt4400 and have a place to race on the weekends.

That's great news for CT enthusiasts and racers!! Growing up in CT as a gear head, we had our circle tracks and go cart tracks, but nothing somewhat local for drag racing. I am excited for the CT racers!

Bill- You'll have to prep your car up as we have a track(road course, not drag) being built as we speak in MA!! It's only an hour south of my house and not even 5 min from my parents house!!!! I can't wait!!

Thompson speedway is re-opening their 1.7 mile road course by next July in addition to the Palmer road course. Fresh pavement, 30 bay garage, new tower.

excited for this, the course is set up pretty nice too with some tight twisties and a big straight away. Even though i'm building for the strip and auto, I'd love to still do a few laps.
