Oh you gotta love NY and our governor!
On Monday, Governor Andrew Cuomo approved an additional vehicle check during annual state inspections.
In June, the Senate passed a bill that would require auto inspection shops to check if a vehicle's windows are tinted with any material that lets less than 70 percent of the outside light to pass inside. Cuomo approved this new vehicle check Monday night. If windows are too dark, the entire vehicle will now fail an inspection.

Say you get pulled over right after you had your inspection....Could the cops find out where you got the inspection and go after the shop to find out why they passed a vehicle with tint?

Yup with all the problems in the world today, this is a big priority! More government control of what we do with OUR vehicles that we pay registration, inspections and taxes to own and operate.
Next it will be nothing other than stock wheels and tires. They won't be satisfied until everyone is riding around in a self-driving Prius.

But, I graduated college in 2008, but haven't bothered to remove the tint. I hate them and have been wanting to remove them for some time, but this law will be the push for me to get it done (I drive with windows down 99% of the time anyway). It's silly to me that people reduce their nighttime vision for aesthetic reasons.

Just because some people tint their windows to hide something, doesn't mean everyone is. What an ignorant assumption. I think my windows for aesthetics and to keep the car cooler in the summer months since that's when I primarily drive my car. Really hope CT doesn't follow NY.

Helps limit amount of light coming in for heat purposes especially with dark interior, has nothing to do with hiding at least in most cases. My question is why does it bother YOU so much?
