Default My long term plan, i think, lol

Today I ordered a new 408 from LME. It won't be here for quite awhile cause the ET heads are in short supply right now. no big deal. So here's the plan.

-Put the 408 in my current truck shown below OR in a new silverado(looking at one tomorrow), strap the whipple to that for now.

-Buy a built 4L80E to replace the stock tranny

-New fuel system, whatever that means

-THEN, Procharger D1SC or F1R

The ultimate goal is to be a 10sec crew cab truck. I've never seen one before. At 6100lbs, it won't be an easy feat. It may never happen. I'm thinking this will take me 1-2 years to complete.

Should I just keep modding this truck or should I get a brand new one? I need opinions.

i say buy a brand new one as a DD and take the GMC and make it ur toy. its always the safer bet to have the previously beaten one as the toy and start off fresh with a brand new one and a factory warrantty. just my 2 cents

I can't do both though. It's either keep modding this one or get a new one and mod that. It's probably gonna be this one cause i'll get raped on trading this in.

keep it, the older nose you have looks alot better and if you ripping out the motor why waste another 35g's just to pull it all apart

I say get a spare vehicle. That way you don't mind if the truck is down or even breaks.

Yeah keep that truck.

6100 pouhnds?!!!! Uhhh, no. I don't think so anyway. Well, maybe if you put a bigger engine in the bed ,the front would be too small for a V12 Ferrari engine. You're gonna have to do some aerodynamic work as well, lots of it. And finally I would say to start working otu and try to get as light as possible without hurting yourself, that way you can still claimthe truck as being 6100 lbs and you can be 130 instead of 170.

IMO, it would be alot easier to achieve your 10 second goal w/a big block motor in a vehicle that heavy---unless you're going to start lightening it up and just ending up w/a truck "shell" to go 10's....Your wallet's gonna be worn out from pulling it out of your pocket! Have fun... WJ

Ok, Ok, so maybe 10's are not attainable. I ran 13 flat with the bone stock 6.0L and the whipple maxed out. The truck with me in it(225lbs), no tailgate, no tonneau, no spare, no side steps weighed in at 6140lbs.

I may buy a cheapo car to use as a spare at some point. What would be the best et i should expect with the 408 and some sort of procharger all sitting on 29" et streets?

11's are doable. The problem lies with the heavy truck/big power. Alot of parts will break from driveshafts, rears, tranny's and who know's what else. That is alot of weight to get moving.

I hear ya Don. This will be a SLOW process. I didn't tell the wifey that I ordered the 408 yet. I guess she'll find out in 4-6 weeks. lol

The 2006 Silverado I was interested in sold yesterday. I'm gonna take that as a sign to keep this truck.

Anyone have any 1/4 mile guesses for the 408/whipple combo? my 13 sec run was with about 415rwhp. I'm hoping to be 550-600 with this new setup.

I guess you're not considering my V12 Ferrari engine idea. That's cool, no offense taken.

But yeah, the aerodynamics comment, that was real and you know it.
Trucks aren't designed to be fast, so you will have to do something.

Tens are do-able in a crew cab. Check out the Harley truck scene. Granted those are 2wheel drive, but there are plenty in the tens.

the key to this is LONG TERM. it's gonna take alot of overtime to pay off the current credit card and the 408. That's about $15000.
