Default head install for the 53,498,123 time problems

Well after a host of problems and a $745 machine shop bill to get the heads right I got the motor back together.I turn the key and it starts up almost right away.Cool I am thinking and let the coolant burn off the exhaust and so on. The temp gauge keeps climbing past 210 where it normally runs and almost hits the red. I shut it off and let it cool down. I take off the radiator cap and think maybe it just has an air pocket. I start it up again, leave the cap off and it keeps bubbling so theres air but the temp keeps climbing. I shut it off one more time. I go to start it about 10 minutes later and it wont even try to start. Check all the fuses and it blew the 50 amp ignition fuse. I take the ABS fuse which is a 50 and try it and it blows too. Take another fuse and it happens again. I look for a short or maybe a pinched wire and come up with nothing. Any ideas?

I would check the wires near the pass. side header first and make sure they are not burnt. Next would be to check the oil for coolant.Last would be to pull the plugs and then start it..Might have the motor hydrolocked.

the motor turns over by hand.the starter doesnt even try the fuse blows as soon as you turn the key.

Well for an update for anyone who cares... I pulled the starter and it bad. I bench tested it and then verified it up at Autozone. Turning the key without the starter in does not blow the fuse either. So I am almost done with the car just some odds and ends. Hopefully it can be sold in the spring. The price will be cheap!

Man it seems like that car has been a total nightmare to you, since you've been putting it back to stock.

yes it has. But I am almost there and someone else can get the car and do it all over again. The only aftermarket part on the car will be a lid and sfc's that are welded.

I put the new starter in today and the car fired right up.Seems weird for a 16000 mile car to have a starter go bad but hey I am not complaining. Its 99% ready for sale.Got my dsm running better too.All in all good day in the garage for a change
