Default MA emissions

Going to move back home to Mass fairly soon. Emissions here are a joke, as long as the SES light is off you pass. No sniff test. How hard is a modified car to pass in MA? I ask because of high flow cats, barely no muffler, and soon to be cammed and new heads. Any problems, or should it fly through?

Default MA emission test

not that hard. your car will pass emissions even with the heads and cam. I passed with about 10 different codes reading and a gutted cat. They basiclly just look for a cat and thats it. For the codes i was throwing up i just pulled the check engine light from the dash and since it wasnt on they didt check further.

its plug and pass mostly unless you get an **** inspector that visually checks EVERYTHING and might give you a hard time so if they do go to the next station and get passed

W. Mass. The OBDII stuff im not worried about, its the sniff test that I would be worried about.

BTW Armyman, that disconnecting the SES light doesnt fly anymore, at least here. The computers check for a SES light tamper. The machines here wont even test if the computer is still clearing codes on its own. I replaced an O2, drove it 3 miles and pluged it up and the computer wouldnt test further. I had to drive 100 miles for the computer to clear and the test to pass.

Thanks everyone

I passed with mac headers/gutted cats/232/238 cam. Thing is loud and lopes fairly hard and I passed. Just make sure you arent throwing any codes. if no codes are thrown you should pass fine. Id say run gutted cats though if possible just in case they do a visual check but ive never had one done on my car.

I'm from Western Mass. Anyways, I've had a cutout and some pretty decent sized holes in my exhaust the last few inspections, they didn't say anything. Gave me **** for the tires a few years ago, but nothing rediculous. If the first guy doesn't pass you, someone else will.
