Default Looks like were getting an 06 G6

It's the wife's turn and she needs a new car badly.
Were just about done signing for a 06 G6 GT coupe, with just about every option.

Do you guys have a G6 or can you recommend one as far as reliability goes? This one has pretty low miles.

They seem like really nice cars. I think GM is under rated for this car. I would buy one if I was in the market for a sedan. I just would stay away from the DOHC models as they have timing belts and look liek a nightmare to work on.

there the same as the 05+ malibus basically. not bad cars, good mileage, typical gm issues. the front will have some clunks and squeaks eventully. but very reliable easy to maintain cars

Yeah were are looking at the 3.5 OHV V6 aka 3500.

My only concern after doing a little homework was this EPS, Electronic Power Steering. I mean she probably won't notice the lack of road feel, but I don't want that to be a issue in the long run if it breaks. I guess a lot of new cars use it though.

that issue was resolved with the late 04 early 05 malibus

they drive just the same for the most part, just really smooth.

Thanks Keith, Yeah I just want a reliable low maintenance car for her. And she really likes how the G6's look. She trading in a a 95 Celica 1.8 w/ a 5sp. It's pretty beat but in the last 5yrs I've only dropped about $1000 in it including brakes and tires.

I'd like her to get an 07 w/ the 100k warrenty on it, but she is all about this 06 w/ these options, plus the price is fair. looks like were gonna go finish the papers and drive it home Saturday.

Funny thing, she kinda wanted a 99 Firebird (same color as mine) a few years ago and I told her no, simply I don't want her in a rwd car in the winter. I said later if we have no kids we can get another toy for the street.

Thanks Marcel

When it get's nice out I'll have to take pics of em'. w/ 3 pontiacs in the driveway people will be like " So you like Pontiac's huh?" LOL. I told her she could get any car she wanted to make payments on, she picked the G6 on her own.

Speaking of payments I'll be done on the T/A any time now. Once Uncle sam cough's up my return. That I am pumped about.

My wife drives an 06 G6 GTP (3900/AT). She says she can't think of a car at any price that she would take over what she has. She absolutely loves it in every way, and it's been a perfect car for the 30k miles that she's had it. The interior looks and feels nicer than my mom's 07 Accord EX, and it can run circles around that Honda. No squeaks, rattles, or clunks of any kind. I've been a member over at G6Performance.com for almost a year now and even those guys will tell you that the only real "issue" with these cars is the brakes...they are a tad under-engineered for the size and power of the car.

Thanks guys!

I feel better knowing that she's getting a good car.

They had a GTP on the lot, but it's not the right color

Picked up the car this weekend. She loves it, red GT.

We even worked in a 75k warranty on it. I've already put about 200 miles on it w/ her it's a nice little car, it should last her a long time.

We had an '05 GT w/ 200 horse V6 as a rental last summer. I liked it a lot. I was very impressed with the way it rode/handed. Parts of the interior weren't bad, I liked the seats. The auto shifter and some of the dash plastics were cheap though. Overall I think its a real decent car. I didn't really check the mileage on it. I think a G6 with the stronger V6 would be a great daily driver.

Yeah she's coming from a car making 100hp to a car that makes 200+. The thing feels like a speed demon to her. I kinda like the looks of the coupe, it's growing on me. Couple friends even commented the lines make the back half look a bit like a 350z. My only negative comments are it does have blind spots in coupe form and the brakes could be just a touch more aggressive. it drives and handles nicely though.

it get's decent mileage for an automatic v6 too, We drove 200 miles and we still didn't use half a tank, cost us 40-45$ to fill it about 3.15 gal. She kinda likes the auto-stick too.
