I'm ordering the tires this afternoon and have pretty much decided on the MT ET Streets (non-radial), 26 x 10.5 x 16 for my stock size 16" wheels (they were free wheels, otherwise I would have gone 15"). They are strictly for the track and won't even be driven there, so I'm not gonna go with tubes as I'll only be at the track every few weeks and the tires/wheels will go on there. Obviously filling air at the track won't be an issue.

This is for my Z28 M6 that dynoed 400/367 on a dynojet. Fully beefed up drivetrain and some suspension. I plan on quick clutch dumps at 5K+ RPM if they'll hold.

Any last minute thoughts or objections?

Joe, you and I had already talked. Just take them out on a flat road, run the car and see how bad it crab walks and as long as your prepared for that. I am 100% sure you will be fine.

youll be fine i ran those on my s/c lt1 car years ago and they were awesome howver i had the ***** to use them on the street too. lol overall you should be pretty happy

Haha, the reason I'm not driving them on the street is because I want to save them for the track and the Nittos last forever on the street, not because I'm afraid of a little waddle top end.

I would vote for the M/T drag radials for driving and racing..they are a good compromise.

Radial's not gonna do what he needs, the shock of the stock car needs the sidewall to give to help plant the tire, without the adjustable shocks and whatnot, the bias bly tire will work better I am 100% sure of it, been there done that.

Yeah, I've got my Nittos for the street. They last a long time and do well on the street, especially when heated. These ET Streets literally going to be put on and taken off at the track. No sense in wearing them out if I don't need to and it allows me to not have to compromise.

Don't compromise on the rear wheel studs, change them too please. Last thing I want to see is you shear a tire off at the starting line.

They would be your best bet, you are limited for choices in that size. Either M/T or the QTP's. They recommend tubes for the et streets also.

I've run et streets for years and not once have I ever had a tube in any of them. I don't believe in the tubes, race tires get air added and taken out constantly, if they lose a couple lbs over the course of a day it's not a huge deal. Sure it sucks when I go in the garage and the tires are flat, but I deal with it.


For pewter's use, the tubes are a waste, and dead weight. Plus, if the tire shifts on the rim without screws to hold it in place the valvestem will get ripped right out, so much for that tube.


The Hoosier qtp's also aren't a bad tire, I had decent luck on the 27x11.5 size, I bet the 28x11.5 would probably work a good bit better.

These tires for pewter's car will be such a dramatic improvment over what he's been playing with, I bet he almost stalls it the first pass, he's never had anything resembling real traction in that car
