I will also say Rapid Motorsports did a 383 for a buddy of mine, in juice was quite a fast car. Another good, sponsored company and isnt that far away.

Rapid is a rip off. The guy may make good engines but he charged an arm and a leg for them. He quoted me for a 346 build around $17,.000.I have no problem paying more money for good work but come on there is a limit.

That 17 grand was that pulling the old one installing the new one, fuel system and tuning it?

Because I know someone that had a similar build done at rapid, was a full built 383 and that's what it totalled up to, but that was pulling and installing the motor, tuning, fuel system upgrades (in tank pump, injectors) elec water pump and a new converter while it was apart.

If it was a build like that, then I think the 17 grand really isn't that bad considering he had a whole new engine built because he sold the old one intake to oil pan.

Yea if you do alot of your own work or have the needed upgrades, a short block shouldnt be that much, it all depends on how much you want a shop to do.

It included installation, no fuel system-only injectors, tuning, no water pump or anything like that. A new clutch was included though. I went to cartek in New Jersey and they quoted me at 13,000 for the same stuff and they are pretty expensive also.THis quote by mike at rapid was also done using my existing crank not a new one.
