Default GM to pull the plug on Pontiac

GM to pull the plug on Pontiac

Just saw this on CNN.com

Cliffnotes:
The brand credited with originating the muscle car will no longer be part of GM's future, according to a source.

who knows what's true they said the camaro would never come back either. i had read somewhere GMs #1 selling vehicle was the pontiac g6 & being #3 in total sales without a line of trucks wouldn't make much sense.

Sad to see it go but in today's market it kinda makes sense. Get all GM's vehicles down to 2 categories one economical and one luxury, Chevrolet and Cadillac. All they have to do is rebadge all the sucessful lines from ther other brands to those two categories. I know there are other mitigating circumstances, but this model works for Honda/Acura, Toyota/Lexus, Nissan/Infinity.

Thumbs down

So the brand that sells more cars than Buick and GMC combined and is #3 in total sales gets killed off? WTF? Just get rid of GMC! We don't need an entire brand of rebagded Chevy truck and SUV's!

.....From the yahoo story

If both are successful, the government and UAW health care trust would own 89 percent of GM stock, with the government holding more than a 50 percent stake
Does that scare the **** outta anyone else?

well hopefully they keep the G8 and the Solstice/sky I think it would be easy to make the Sky a Cadillac and the G8 maybe a new impala. I definitely think Buick should go first before Pontiac but well see what happens doesn't look good though if the government will be running things.

They're a big hit in China, they won't be going anywhere anytime soon, unfortunately. I'd much rather see Buick get ditched.

GM controls all of these brands:
- Chevrolet
- Pontiac
- Buick
- SAAB
- GMC
- Saturn
- Hummer
- Cadillac

check out the brands on the bottom of this GM site

8 different brands?!?! And look how many different types of the same F'ing cars/trucks they make! THEN, consider all the different trim levels for each model!!! hehe... They are obvoiusly spreading it way to thin. I agree with them needing to cut it back to just one economy brand and one luxury brand and rebadging the money makers.
