Default Orlando Speed World Rant

I understand safety is a must when racing, but I would like some insight here.

What is going on with the starter? Does he have to triple check cars from lane 1 and 2? Do we have to pause at the line while our tires get cold?

Also last Friday I was first in lane 2. The tech in the staging lanes leading the cars out made the motion for us to proceed to the water box. I started my car and he looked at me with this crazy face and his hands in the air.

Maybe I'm just ranting here, but wouldn't it be better to do a more thorough "tech in" when actually techin' in? This way the starter doesn't have to guess and continue to triple check my car after I already ran 2 passes?

If you think that is bad don't go anywhere near central florida road course. You will kill yourself before you leave.

I've never actually seen cars get checked out at OSW? Is this something new?

Sean is that the new road course that opened up this year? I was thinking of going to that at some point, what all do you need out there?

I don't know what event you were at, every time
I've been there the only tech was "got yer helmet"?
and the only "safety" I ever got was, they wouldn't
let me drive with a sleeveless T-shirt.

Bithlo ain't exactly known for being a genius magnet.

Thats about all they have ever done since I first started going there in about 85 or so.
On a side note I went to Zmax Dragway up here in NC (http://www.lowesmotorspeedway.com/dragway/)
One of the best tracks in the world a few weeks ago and thats all the did here aswell.
Might head there tonight

Spanish to english dictonary, a lot of time to waste sitting in the staging lanes, your own cooler full of something to drink, a bunch of head ache meds.

It was the WORST place I have ever been, very cramped no place to park, hot as$ asphalt, no one that speaks english, you get no track times, no display boards, crappy seating. I think I can make this go on and on. Don't waste you money. Take your money and go to gainsville.

Cfrc is a pretty nice track. Actually had to pop my hood for tech and they told everyone make sure you kept your ac off for less downtime they actually prepped the track after a round too. They will be extending to 1/4 within the year too.

OK, but has anyone ran on the road course section? Honestly having a second 1/4 track would be a good idea over there, I usually get lucky at OSW and get to make 5+ passes, but perhaps if there are two track options OSW won't be as packed?

I still haven't ran at Gainsville, been to OSW around 5 or 6 times and to Bradenton once. All three of them are more or less two hours away for me.

Orlando Speedworld definitely has some competition now from the CFRC dragstrip. They have a fiberoptic timing system and they prep the track very well(traction is great) !! They have redone the pavement and there are no more bumps on the track, it is concrete to half track they also extended the shutdown by 300 more feet. The CFRC dragstrip is open Thurs, Fri and Sat night till 2am. Theres lots of pretty girls out there too.
