Anybody in\near Coral Springs, Boca Raton, etc willing to give a hand? maybe ?
I have a 2006 GTO. I have heads\cam\headers\intake manifold, etc.
I had these mods done long ago (over a year). Starting last week, i started smelling fuel inside the car when i started the car. It is a strong smell. This leads me to believe i have a fuel leak somewhere. It may be something that could be fixed rather simply or could be tough, i dont know. I am not that good with engine work. I mean, i do my own oil, i helped install my intake manifold, and can do lil stuff here and there. However, i have no experience in doing engine work.
I would just take this to get fixed, but i am tight on cash due to divorce (got divorced monday 9/21/09), left my job (shady **** going on), and paying through the nose for my national board exams and associated reviews to get licensed (just graduated grad school recently. So anyway, i am getting this thing serviced today (differential fluid, trannny fluid, oil) and am going to ask them to take a look at the oil leak. If it is something that they are going to charge me out the *** for, i probably wont be able to afford it.
If it is something that could be done rather easily in one's garage, would anyone be willing to give a brother a hand? I would be more than happy to compensate this good samaritan in some way, whether it is taking you out for beers, a steak dinner, or maybe i have some parts you need (got a bunch of perfectly good stock parts i took off the car).
If anyone is willing to lend a hand if needed, let me know. I would greatly appreciate it. thanks.

Could the fuel smell be the engine bay fire issue the GTOs have?
I don't know the issue too well, I just thought I remembered reading that it rubs a fuel line enough and then FIRE! I'd rather not see that happen to a fellow techer .

Start at the gas tank. There is a seal that sits on top of the tank that has a tendency of breaking down. Being that the tank is actually inside the vehicle, the smell can be very prominent.
