Default Blown Posi/Rear... Rebuild OR Get New Rear?

Recently moved down to Miami & just blew my Posi on stock rear w/ 4:10's .. Should I have it pulled apart to just fix whatever it is that snapped or just worth it to replace the entire rear w/ a 12bolt?

WHAT SHOP SHOULD I TAKE IT TO??

Opinions? Thanks,

think about it. Have you researched 10 bolts in these cars. They are very weak. If you have the money get a 12 bolt and never look back.

replace the damaged parts and every time you drive it,you'll be wondering how long before it breaks again.

Go for the 12 bolt! I killed 3 "10 bolts" before I got smart and got a 9", and that was with a bolt-on only motor.

If you can afford a upgrade at the moment, then upgrade. If not my last 10 bolt cost me $300 complete, I just unbolted my dead one and slapped the new used one in, only takes part of a afternoon.

If you decide to get away from the 10 bolt, can you sell me your Torsen diff paddle?

Its the piece of steel that bolts in the middle to prevent the axles from moveing inwards:

Ok so I ended up taking the car to "Superior Transmission Center" in Boca (highly recommended by a few people) and they told me my center section needs to be replaced / posi etc..

I think I might just go ahead and get a 12bolt cause they want close to 2,000 for the entire job (including parts/labor) anyway.

Can anyone recommend a place to get a new Moser 12bolt for best price +shipping ?

I was looking at thunder racing but don't know who else sells for good deal.

Thanks guys

(Again... opinions welcome)

close to 2k in parts and labor to fix a 10 bolt?

run, run as fast as you can away from that bullshit.

i also would steer away from a 12 bolt. they are ok, but i would prefer, for basically the same money - a strange S60 or a Moser 9"

many have broken a 12 bolt, myself included

Question diff paddle?

I never saw that before on any of my diffs. I'm looking at the torsen I took out of my 00 Camaro and I don't have a paddle. What year was that on? Factory torsen?

I worked for a chevy dealer for almost four years and we don't even charge $2,000. What are they doing for $2,000?

Go to the gears section. I think Exotic Performance might be one of the sponsors. Or ask Sean that has a build thread going who he worked with.

gators 99 ta don't know ****. 1600.00 for a eaton posi new gears bearings & seals & gear oil & labor is a good price. This is not a backyard shop. They have built many 12 bolts in 8 & 9 second cars that don't blow up. You get what you pay for.Cheap= Junk.

what the **** is wrong with you? i think i been around this scene and the block a few times junior. you can take your big dog south florida attitude and eat a dick.

just b/c you have ties with a shop doesnt mean you need to run your mouth. anyone who would put 1600-2000 dollars in a 10 bolt is a ******* moron. if you can justify that, then i have some land to sell you up here.

jackass. you can buy entire brand new boltin strange and moser rears for a bit more than 2k.
