Default Need opinions

Hey guys i just picked up a nice clean 2002 ss camaro and it came with hooker long tubes and cat back. I want to change the exhaust to my old set up with sweet thunder mufflers. My question is though, the car is lowered on eibach springs and it's already bottoming out on the exhaust. I want to add a x pipe and do dumps. What are your suggestions on whether doing a 2.5" or 3" exhaust system. Is there that much of a difference in sound and performance? Thanks

I dont have any performance data, but i would think 2, 2.5" dumps would flow better than a 3" to 3" y-pipe most commonly used.

If you're already bottoming out it would probably be the same, or maybe worse, with 3" dumps. If you did 2.5" it should help with clearance some.

My car isn't lowered and a I have long tube headers with an x pipe and it's pretty low but I've never bottomed out.
But my opinion for you is on the dumps, they sounded awesome for about a month and after that they were ridiculously loud( I have a small cam) and annoying, rattled the whole interior and just drove me nuts, so I had under the axle extensions made by a local shop and added to them so they exit regular and I love it. Let me know if you wanna see the set up and hear it.

I think we saw your car at the ruby Tuesday show a couple Friday's ago, and I'm fairly sure I saw you driving over on university by NOVA a week or so ago. If you see a pewter SS with black manta stripe and cme, that's me.

hooker just came out with a true dual stainless system thats 2.5in piping. comes out the back, was made for lowered cars so it fits very tight to the underside. maybe something to look into.
