Default First time at the track. Gainesville Raceway.

Finally decided to take the car to the track. Drove all the way to Gainesville Raceway (Long ******* drive) but boy, it was worth it.

I ran 4 times. Killed everyone they pit me against. My times were definitely not LS1 times, but I guess they're good for a first timer.
----
Run 1- Me vs 6.0 GTO.
I lost the time slip for this one, but I had a low 14 to his high 14.

----

Run 2- Me vs WRX STI.
My best run of the night.
R/T- .929
60'- 2.198
1/8- 8.371 (88.68MPH)
1/4- 12.835 (109.63 MPH)

The STI ran a 14.673

----

Run 3- Me vs 70's Camaro
I ran a 14.340 to his 14.967

----

Last run- Me vs Civic
I ran 13.683 to his 15.879

------------

I spinned on all runs (badly). I couldn't seem to get the Nittos (DR's) to hook. I did my 3-4 second burn outs like some guy suggested and still spinned and kept going sideways like I was driving on snow or some ****. So everytime I launched I had to let go of the gas then get on it again

While I defeated all my 4 opponents, it did seem like I was playing catch up through the beginning of the runs (with the exception of the STI).

I need to learn how to hook this car so it can run 11's like it is capable of.. Any suggestions for a beginner? (I did a search and it wasn't working )

My Mods:

Hooker Full Exhaust
QTP E-Cutout
Comp "Custom" cam (231 237 .589 .595 112LSA)
Vigilante 3600 Stall
B&M Trans Cooler
Ls1 Underdrive pulley/Harmonic Balancer
Ls6 Intake
SLP LID
Eibach Lowering Springs
Bilstein Struts/shocks/mounts
Trac-Tek Tubular *Weld in* Subframes
Nitto D/R's 275/40/17
SLP Line-lock
Power Slot Rotors
HAWK pads
BMR Driveshaft Loop

Thank you in advance...

I suggest you ditch the Nitto tires and get some M/T DRs!!

Where did you drive from?

What numbers you putting down?

True that. I'm an M6 guy though, but get some tires on there so that you can utilize that stall to its full potential.

Agreed, get some real sticky tires or start "walking it off the line" to control the spin.

Hey bud, it was your 1st time and you hit 12s. Good Job.

Your tires are killing you. That VIG 3600 is akin to at least a 4000 stall, maybe even more aggressive. You'll need true drag radials in order to fully take advantage of it. Tires + Practice. You definately have a solid 11 second car on your hands.

As soon as I get rebuilt I'll be going through the same learning experience.

Did you get that car tuned bro? Traction or not your trap speeds are in the stock range, there may be other things going on here other then traction probs.

That's actually not too bad for a 1st timer considering he almost hit 110 in an auto. He did say he let off and back on the gas though.
Of course..., we know who could help in the tuning dept.
His power number seems pretty good for a cam only auto. I'm all about trAck number's though.

Speaking of track, I hear you have a date with a certain black Z06? Y'all better make me a video! I think you're gonna have a tough time staying with Bob in the 60. G/L.

Oh we most defenetily have a date, I dont think i have the ***** or the $$ to risk just yet launching like he does, but we shall see how it goes on the big end!

I have a very sneaking feeling though that a certain Black camaro thats going with us is gonna put the hurtin down on both of us so it wont really matter anyways

Oh, gotcha.
I just let it idle and smashed the gas on the green (flashed it).

Yeah, Speed@Inc tuned it and did all the work. I'm thinking that my trap speeds were low because I had to completely let off the gas everytime But you might right. I just have to keep practicing.

Next time I go, I'm gonna walk it off the line and I'm sure I'll get better times then.

You'll be able to get alot of practice next month for the track day. I'm hoping I'll be able to hit mid 13s without DRs. You got a few good times though. Just keep working on it and get some better tires

Play with tire pressure at all? I heard you could drop those nitto's down to like 10psi.

No. I didn't do any of that. Just lined it up and ran it.

All 3 of you need rollbars to have real fun, especially this "black camaro" you speak of. I do know the Z06 is capable of 10's in good weather and the camaro makes it's own "good weather" and is capable of 10's.
Your clutch should save your driveline just like the LS6 one in my Formula does barring any wheelhop. Don't forget the video cameras!
