Best cats?
Looking for sound and performance. I have it straight-piped right now from my Mac Mids into a Hooker Aerochamber Super Comp muffler. It sounds like ***, especially at 2000 RPM when all of the backpressure builds. Looking for a good set of cats to do the following:
1. Get rid of the smell!
2. Make the exhaust less raspy/more throaty
I see cats from Random Tech and from SLP. Both are high flows. Anyone got a sound clip/advice? Also looking for a really good deal as well.

I have the Magnaflow bullet cats. Real small, VERY little power loss. LS1's sound like chit with out cats. Even with cats there is a little rasp. Only way to lose all of it is with true duals. That's down the road for me....

When I had the Borla CATback, I had Random tech 8" bullet cats and they were good. I went to tru duals, got tired of them and ordered a new MAC ORY and Magnaflow CATback. Zero rasp with the flowmaster collector welded into the Y and no cats now ... best the car has EVER sounded. I spoke with you at the track when you staged me against the white Cobra last Wednesday night. If you remember the sound of the exhaust, you probably liked it. As stated, NO rasp at 2000-2500. I was shocked at the Magnaflow's sound when I installed it ... very pleased with it. Also, if you remember, I sat there an spun forever ... LOL!

Anyone have a sound clip of the SLP high flows with a Hooker Aero muffler? I'll check LS1sounds as well.
I remember when I had MAC cats on there, it sounded great. As soon as I went to straight pipes, it went to hell. Blk/silver, I'll get back to you about that. Sounds like a great deal to me, I just need to get paid first.

ok,they were on my car w/slp LT and stock muffler so the car was quite.without them you can hear the headers a little more.the car only dropped a tenth in 1/4 mile times, so id say they flow pretty good.

Ironically, the first cats I had on my MAC exhaust were GTO cats from Random Tech ... believe they were the 27500 model ... memory might be failing me, though. If I were doing cats, I'd only do the metal core ones ... blew the ceramics out of both of the first aftermarket ones I had.

Very much so. It sounded good, but, with the Magnaflow I have now, it sounds better without the cats and it's not too loud ... just about right. When I had the cats and Borla adjustable the only way to eliminate the rasp was to put in the soilid plate. Now, there's ZERO rasp and the exhaust sounds great ... hardly ever notice any C02 smell, either. After re-doing my exhaust 4 times, I'm finally 100% happy with it and the Magnaflow was by bar the cheapest Stainless catback out there. Of course, the FM collector helped some, as well, but I also had one welded into the old Y when I had cats.

hmmm, I'll have to check those out. I've never heard of those before.
I'm looking for something to quiet the car down too. And I'm not getting rid of my Aerochamber.
