helpw ith error codes, 01 Trans-Am
This is for a friend of mine’s car:
2001 Pontiac Trans-Am WS6 with 34,000 miles. A4 with headers, a few light bolt ons and nitrous installed by previous owner.
Here are the error codes that I’m getting:
P0140
02 Sensor CKT No Activity (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
P0304
Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected
P0332
Knock Sensor 2 Circuit Low Input (Bank 2)
P0418
Secondary Air Injection System Relay A Malfunction
Okay, so here is what I’m thinking in order to fix the problems, and I wanted to run it by everyone before I went and bought the parts.
P0140, buy 02 Simms. (Where do I get them from, and which one on the car is bad? Aren’t there four 02 sensor’s located on the car? I’m guessing go ahead and purchase two 02 simms)
P0304, upgrade to NGK TR55 spark plugs. It’s about time anyway.
P0332, buy a knock sensor, where is this located and which one is bad?
P0418 What is this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

P0418, do you still have your a.i.r. pump connected? if so, sounds like a good time to remove it. if not, did you get it deprogrammed from your computer? only suggestions i know, pm Doc, he seems to know alot about the codes, i think he has a book, smart guy!

P0140 is your post cat sensor, try o2 deletes cause you dont need them or go to auto zone if you have extensions, they have the stock replacements, or ws6store.com has the longer bosch ones for LT's

I wouldn't recommend getting O2 sims, as they're now illegal and pretty much worthless anyways. If its the back two O2's that are a problem, I'd PM Robert (mr223) and ask him to tune out the rear O2's (if they're the problem, someone else will have to clarify your code to make sure its not one of the front O2's, which would definitely need replacing if it isn't working properly.)
For the misfire, check plug wires and coil packs as well as just the plugs.
The bank 2 knock sensor is the rear knock sensor, located underneath the intake manifold on the valley cover. Its a relatively easy fix so long as you're comfortable removing the intake manifold. Looking down at the engine bay from the front of the car, it will be the knock sensor closest to the rear of the engine or firewall (there is only two.)
As far as the air injection system goes, if you're having problems with it I would just buy some block-off plates from ws6store.com or any other supporting vendor and remove the entire system. Robert (mr223) could also tune all codes out to eliminate any SES lights while he's tuning out the rear O2's.
Hope that helps.

It's the rear driver's side 02 (bank 1 = driver's side and sensor 2 is post CAT)
Agree with just getting the code tuned out.
Just changed my driver's side 02 today about 1 month after changing the passenger side one. Very simple to change out once they go bad.

Thank you for your help. I think that I might have fixed all but the Secondary Air codes. I'll update tomorrow when I scan the car again and than explain what happened
