Default A 3rd Gen. z28 or my ls1 98 z28

I had a 91 rs when i was 12 as a project car for me and my dad. The other day me and my buddy were cruising me in the 98 z28 and him in his 91 z28. It got me thinking about my old car. I mean i just look in the rear mirror and that car looks so mean and looks more like a muscle car than the 4th gens.
I would love to have a clean 3rd gen but i really dont want to take a step back in performance because i know the LS1 is superior to the TPI. Can anyone help me change my mind or give me some advice on what to do.

Chris

Well if you want a more aggresive look do an aftermarket hood and spolier. And change the wheels. It will make your car look "meaner".

If you really like the third gen look, as do I. You'd have to do a LSx swap IMO....'cause even a TPI 350 is slow as ****.

What he said ^. If you really like 3rd gens better, just do what i did and drop in a H/C/I LS1 with a six speed. Its great and it definitely surprises people.

seeing as I sold my 91Z and my 92 25th RS to get my 01 SS. Id take a 91-92 Z over a 98 anyday.

that depends on how much you can do yourself. i did mine by myself and it cost me half what a shop would charge. its not all that difficult either.

I love my T/A but I thought my 3rd gen T/A was sweet as hell, as slow as It was..

I wish I had keept it and done a LSx Swap in that car.

Performance wise the 3rd gen don't compare to a LS-1 and the 3rd gens were rattle boxes and slow.I've had 25 camaro's in every generation and all around i'd say my 02 SS was the best eventhough i miss my 1980 Z-28 W/ A 468ci big block.I would just make your 98 look more aggressive you will be happier with it then a 3rd gen.

I had two 3rd gens before I got my LT1 car. Big difference in quality between the 3rd and 4th gens structure wise. The 3rd gen cars always felt like they would kill me, I think I'm glad my 83 Z28 ran out of gear at 135mph. 94 feels very smooth and stable at 150.
Looks wise, I think the 3rd gen Camaros are the best, they are my favorite car.

The rattles aren't anything some SFCs couldn't take care of and 3rd gens are only slow if you stick with the stock engines. Mine's not slow at all

Just do whatever you want within what your budget will allow. It might be easier for you to stay with your 98. Personally, I like 3rd gens better.

Heres what you should do...buy my 92 z28 and then swap in an ls1. The current motor isnt a slouch as it is. Let me know if you want some pictures or if you are remotely interested

I had 3rd gen iroc with 350tpi and it was fun but not as much fun as my ls1. I love how the 3rd gen look mean as hell. They are great cars but they dont handle will as the 4th gens do.
If i was u chris i would keep your 98 and put bolt ons on the car then geting a 3rd gen swaping a lsx into it. About the money and time you would be better off with ur 98. I am not sayin 3rd gens are bad or anything i am lookin as if ur on a limited budget. By all means if have the time and the money put into a 3rd gen lsx then do it.
