Anyone See the Boat Fall in the Road - Jax
Last night around 8:30 my room mate called me and told me he just saw the oddest accident ever on his way home. This all took place on third street right near the St. Johns / Duval border in front of Ponte Vedra Lakes / Tra Vini. Apparantely someone was trying to turn left and pulled out in front of this truck pulling a very large boat on a trailer. The guy driving the truck t boned the person trying to turn left. That instant stopping caused the trailer to break, the boat came off, and slammed into the back of the truck. The truck ended up in a ditch with the trailer half way sticking up in the air and the boat sitting in the middle of third street. I took these around 11:00 when I got off of work so it had been sitting there for a few hours.
What we saw when we pulled up:
The truck was some F150 that got completely owned:
We sat out on the side walk and watched them remove it with a few other random people and the police officers. Here's the whole process in pictures:
As you can tell this isn't a small boat. I'd say it was about a 24-28 footer, center console with twin 235s on the back.
They moved the trailer out of the way with a flat bed.
The crane shows up.
They backed the crane up and chained the boom to the boat.
Getting some air under it.

About this time traffic really started backing up as they had closed down the only other lane.
Up it goes:
After that they just rolled the trailer back under it and started to lower it down:
Back where it started:
They were trying to hook the hitch back up, but it got mangled in the accident:
Since the hitch was mangled they decided to rig it up with a bunch of chains. After all that hard work of moving the boat I figured we were going to see it right back on the road when they started driving with it rigged like that.
Suprisingly though it was making it down the road. Granted they were only driving about ten miles per hour:
The whole event was extremely humorous. Who ever the dumbass was that pulled out in front of this guy though is going to probably get their insurance canceled after this one.

Trust me thay will fix that boat. After the hurricanes we had boats with holes and sank that were repaired. All depends on replaicment value and that looks to be 26-24 edge water it has a high resale rate.
