Default Lightening strike while in a car...dangerous!

For all of us here in Florida, the lightening capital of this side of the planet beforewarned that should lightening strike your car it is not a safe place to be no matter what anybody tells you it's bull!! My coworker was in her mini van a week and half ago traveling down I - 75 going to Sarasota when she got struck by lightening! The damaged was severe enough to her van that the insurance company totaled it! It blew out the rear window, dented the sheet metal in serveral spots, burned holes in the rocker panel, fried the electronics and get this...damaged the metal in her tires! Had she been touching anything metal at the time she may have been seriously injured or worse. She was said it was so loud that she still has ringing in her ears! I saw a car that was parked two spaces away when it got struck on the roof and that damaged the roof and from that point on I said I'd never own a convetible in Florida, ever! Kinda makes you wonder about glass T Tops!
I'm hoping to get pics from her when she gets them form her insurance co and
I'll post them. Her insurance company told her that this happens more often than not but you never hear about it.

then keep your *** in Illinois and you wont have to worry about it. the freakin lightning here in florida is brutal. state farm made me install a whole house surge suppressor because my home and surrounding area has been hit so many times. last time it came in thru the phone line, fried my phone, my desk-top pc, modem, the microwave that was on the wall behind the phone-jack and blew my dsl filter into 5 pieces.

I took a shower in the middle of a nasty T-Storm today. I mean lightening every like 3 seconds. I got out when I heard one flash/crack really close. Dad thought I was insane.

I don't think you understand how serious it is around here. My grandpa has been struck by lightning twice down here. I know quite a few other people who have been hit. Along with countless others who have had their homes hit. My old computer got friend by a strike.

When I worked at a home stereo shop we saw people bring in items all the time. We went out on a service call and the guy didn't even know his home had been hit. Nothing related to his stereo worked at all.

I think every true floridian has done that at some point in their lives, I know I've done that a couple times.

There is a vid on youtube of a van driving and getting struck by lightning. Only thing that happened to the car was a fried antenna. I guess it depends on how bad the strike is and how well all the grounds on your car are...

My house has been struck by lightning 3 times in the past 2 years. Every time our router, modem, and phones get blown to hell. My LT1 T/A got struck and only thing I needed to replace was a few fuses.

When I was little I wouldn't pee during a storm. I was afraid lightning could travel through the sewer and toilet water and blow my dick off.

For the Illinois guy trolling the Florida section, lightning is deadly everywhere but it is worse here. I wouldn't tell the Kansas guys they're pussies over a little tornado.
