Default This might be a bad Idea, but.......

I am currently in devolpment of a prototype front mount kit for F bodys. We are in the designing stages still. I am going to try and set the price point at $2150. At that price I would like it to include a hotside & Turbo of the customers choice (limited choices).

Basically what I am looking for from you all is opinions. What have you seen out there that you don't like, what have you seen that you do like? I would like know how much fab to get it on is too much for the everyday turbo guy. Also does anyone think that standing up their radiator to intall the kit is a bad idea?

Any opinions, comments, and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading,

I think most people would interested in a hot side kit with or without turbo and waste gate. We need an inexpensive kit, one that would most likely use any style of stock manifold to cut cost. I dont think moving the radiator is a big deal, more than likely if your going turbo you probably should get a better bigger radiator anyways. It would also be nice to keep a/c as well. Might need to sell an alternator relocation kit for cheap as well with the kit. Just my opinion.

If it were me I would try (key word there) try, to do a kit where it is not required to move the radiator only because there are only a limited few of us that are actually willing to cut up our car!

I'm thinking that using the truck manifolds would help the cost of the kit greatly. Also good idea on the A/c relocate bracket inclusion. I am going to start with just the hotside and then down the road add a coldside.

Hey Matt,
you still down to be a guinea pig for this. after its done.

I had heard that before as well very good input, so far its been 50/50 on the radiator thing from everyone I talked to.

Keep the radiator stock, and look into the LS4 FWD 5.3s front manifolds. They can be used and still keep the A/C, but i dont recall if the heater hoses need to be modified. Also i would use the cheap $575 BW S475 turbo with the 1.10 A/R housing, they kick serious *** on 346-408 LSxs and i would rather lose some spool to keep the kit cheap. Also offer a hot side only kit.

The following turbos will be available with the hotside base price: MP T-70, T64 & MP T76 / BW box unit T6 flange s475. Wastegate options will include JGS, tial, or turbosmart. I am going to try to offer the kit with customers choice of WG flange, will see.

What specific vehicle do those headers come off of Grr.

I'd be interested in a hot side T6 setup with 4" DP.

I think a budget kit that can produce enough power for a stock engine, while still, keeping the radiator in place, the a/c, and safely away from the rack and critical components. I agree with using truck/stock manifolds. maybe a battery relocation kit to free up some space in the engine bay. I think the main problem is that most people don't have the money or can justify dropping the money ($6k+) on a trubo kit or super charger kit in one shot. We like to do things a piece at a time and still have our cars up and running with little down time.

The thing with the radiator is that if you dont stand the radiator up u cant retain the factory fans witch wrk really good. But either way will wrk.
