Lightbulb First Hand Experience with GT-K Turbonetics

Any of you have FIRST HAND experience with Turbonetics GT-K turbos??? I am planning to use the 650's in my build but I am being told on another forum they are crap and take forever to spool up. I would like to hear from any of you that have installed them....particularly in a large cubic inch motor. Thanks for any info! Here is a pic......

They are great turbos. Who ever told you that on the other forum doesn't know much about turbos then.

Some of the quickest spooling turbos when looking at the amount of air they will move.

heard from a couple of folks who put em on four bangers. Yes I know...what the hell do they know! But got me a little concerned when I heard from five different folks in a little over five minutes. I have never heard any thing bad about them until that point. Thanks guys for your comments and I will listen for more.

Yup....they listen to other turbo companies that sell one brand....so eveything else is crap. People on some forums need to broaden their horizons a little.

Those are the good one. Most listen to each other BS and then regurgitate it.

As other have already said, our GT-K series is loved by many of our vendors and customers. That said, a smaller engine will require a longer spool time due to less exhaust flow generated to drive the turbine wheel and associated mass. On your setup (you're building a 434?) they will spool up almost instantly.

Damn...you folks are making me feel a lot better. I was posting on Corvette Forum but the only folks responding were discussing from a Dodge 4 banger forum. I have yet to hear anyone with first hand experience on vettes or other larger cubic inch motors say any thing negative. I am still very glad I made my decision on the Turbonetics GT-K model! Thanks for the input!

the reason why the said they lag probibly is because they are trying to spool them with a little 4 banger.

Matt, I f i can spool my 76's with my 377ci. motor, you will have no problems at all with 434ci's! They are good turbo's unless you just want to go bigger??

They are great spooling turbo's & some of the Turbo Buick guys that can afford them are swapping to them & they spool great with our little 231 6 bangers.

Course those 76's killed your motor....but I digress....I am looking more for power in the 3500 to 6000 rpm range....not so much at top end rpm's. I usually play around 3500 to 5000 anyway. Not looking to set record et's at the track just a nice streetable power band. They run out at 6500....I can live with that!

Matt.....its so obvious you have never had a stout turbo car. You are gonna have MASSIVE power at anyplace you want. After my puny Incon turbos, I built this one to tone DOWN the power on the street. You are in for a treat. It will be different than the blower but in places where you can really use it

A special THANK YOU to 12secSS who is an engineer at Turbonetics. He looked at what I am doing and the power band I am shooting for (3000 to 6000RPM) and felt the GT-K 650's will be just fine in that power band. I do appreciate your assistance and all the help of turbonetics!
