Default Initial D1SC plan

Hey all,

I'm trying to justify buying a D1SC kit before tax return time comes. Specifically, I want to try to get the blower on the car without buying a new set of heads. Here's my situation:

I had to rebuild my engine at one point a couple years ago. I decided to get Mahle -9cc dished pistons and forged Compstar rods. To keep my CR up while I was N/A, I milled the heads .040" and put .040" gaskets on there. The end result was something like 10.28:1 CR assuming a 61cc CC after milling. I never had the heads CC tested, so that's just a guess based on how much I milled.

The cam in the car is a TR 230/236 on a 112 LSA. It's a pretty hefty cam for a blower, as I understand it, but I've seen similar setups do quite well. I'm planning on keeping this cam at first.

The question I have is how much boost I could run on this setup if I were to drop the CR down closer to 9.9:1 with stock head gaskets and the cam, what kind of boost could I run? Ultimately, I'd like to see 625+RWHP with heads, lower CR, etc, but if I can do 575+RWHP now without buying heads, I'm going to pull the trigger!

10-12 lbs should be no problem with a good tune at 10:1 compression. That will get you to your goal easily

Actually, I just read that the stock MLS headgaskets are .060". I was using .054" in my math. If that's the case, then I could get it down to 9.8:1.

So, does everyone agree that 12psi would be safe on pump gas with a FMIC on that setup, and that 575+RWHP would be an easily attainable goal with stock heads?

Thanks, for the response, No Juice. (I'm really hoping Bob will chime in, too!)

I thought they were about .053" as well?

Your compression ratio will be just fine at 12 psi of boost. I see 575 rwhp being a problem though, as you'll have a hard time only making that much power! lol
Check this GTO out that made 532 rwhp with 8 psi of boost and headers and exhaust. http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com...Car.php?car=46 Bob

Thanks for the reply, Bob. I'll be on the phone again with you eventually to iron out the details. I just have to grow a pair and drop the cash, lol.
