Default Second 2 Bar Map Sensor gone bad.....

I have had two GM 2 bar map sensors (off of supercharged Cobalt) just die on me.......both brand new........getting code p0170 and car runs like **** because all my fueling is based off this sensor.......I checked voltage from pcm and it is fine.......any ideas

After putting in new sensor it takes alot of driving and many hard pulls before sensor dies.

You're voltage is OK? Did you check the ground?

Yea....I am sure it is the sensor......I tested the output from the sensor at atmosphere and it is reading around .1 volts and it should be around 1.5v

I am going to try the other style map sensor.....maybe the meth has something to do with it, or the silicone I used to seal sensor to intake....I have no idea

I used black silicone to hold it in, not sensor safe......would that really damage sensor?

I am going to try a new one with sensor safe rtv but don't see how the regular black silicone can damage a map sensor

When they say 'sensor safe' it is refering to the oxygen sensor, because some fumes can damage the sensor tip. No reason it should affect your MAP.
