Default does it make a difference?

would it make a difference when building a motor looking for a certain compression ratio to build it with using dished pistons and low cc chamber heads, flat pistons and high cc chamber heads or a bit of both?

does it make any difference in performance/ reliability/ etc?

thanks, Gary

Generally, a dished piston and small chamber will be the most efficient set up in a wedge type motor, with flat tops being the second best choice. The dished piston provides an unobstructed path for the flame front to propagate and more closely (somewhat) resembles a hemispherical chamber (the most efficient design). I'm not sure of the actual performance difference, but I would imagine that it would help with detonaton resistance. I hope this helps and if anyone else has anything to add to or argue this point, please do!

Oh yeah, dished pistons are usually a little lighter which is always good!
