Default good LT1 turbo topend?

Ive got a full turbo kit with a GT42 and now im looking to get the longblock setup. I have the opportunity to purchase a low comp forged 383 with AFR195's and port matched LT4 intake. Are the afr 195's big enough to support a gt42 and make 700+ ?

or should i just buy the shortblock and put a different topend setup on it? any recomendations on what heads and intake work well with a 76mm turbo LT1

700 at the wheels or at the motor? I would think those heads and the stock intake would be fine for your goals as long as you have the injectors, camshaft and boost level commensurate for the HP Goals.

700 at the wheels would be nice for now with room to go even more. i dont want the 195afr's to be the limit of whats keeping me from getting big numbers. i have precision 98lb injectors and F.A.S.T standalone. all the supporting mods will be there along with the internals to handle it but at what point will the the 195'c become the limiting factor

I have a set of 195cc trickflow castings on mine that I ported out to ~220cc's, I do alot of head porting on these motors with good results. my intake manifold is an Edelbrock LT4 that is still unported.. even with the larger header ports I have plenty of throttle response and off boost torque as well as good driveability in and out of the throttle! the better the heads and intake flow, the more power you will make with less boost pressure..

awesome your dyno results post is what ive been drooling over I should have a very similar setup and your 220cc runner heads is what got me thinking about the 195's being to small since id like to see siilar numbers. so could i have the off the shelf 195 afr's that would come with the motor ported or just start with something else?

The 195s should make 700whp by 18psi or so pretty easy. I would definately jump on that setup, you could have them ported for sure and pick up some pretty big power for sure, but they wont be much of a limit until 900 i would think.

My advice never buy a used engine. I would build my own or buy from a reputable shop.
