Default mp70 .96 a/r w/ 6.0

Has anyone done this? I know its a smaller turbo for the engine so there is no need to remind me. I am hoping to see some numbers where someone used this turbo. Also if anyone has measured the backpressure with this size exhaust side that would be great. Being small is ok if I dont have outrageous hp goals but I dont want it to be unsafe/unreliable with my engine.

Were you running out of turbo with your 408 because the op is only using a 6.0 not a 408

For a stock motor it would be perfect. Parrish made like 600whp with the turbo turd (fairmont) with a 5.3 through an automatic. Little risk of popping motors. To the 408 guy, did you have the turbo up front or a rear mount?

I have a MP76 that i am going to use on my 370ci. I think a MP70 would be great for street use on a 5.7/6.0.

depending ofcourse alittle on cam choice, it will probably make peak power down around 5000. That would certainly limit the hp numbers.

If you want to sell it, I have a 5.3 I d put it on though.

I think it will be fine personaly. If someone isnt looking to make any more power.. using a turbo that will spool really fast and max out at redline is pretty much the best power under the curve you can have right? I used this turbo on my 306 with great results and a tiny .68 housing. 60 more cubes and a bigger a/r I would assume should put down much better numbers.

Yup. Nice solid powerband and it should be plenty quick. Very early spool too. If you're not looking for more than 600whp, it should be perfect!

We run those on 5.3's and they are perfect. I would step up to a MPT76 for the 6.0l. You will be happier in the end. we see very little lag with these on 6.0 wit just an 04 ZO6 cam and springs. Pulls like a freight train from 5 - 15 psi.

I have one on a 357 lt1
- Mild heads, baby cam
- No backpressure numbers.
On a cool 55ish degree day I made 560/640 and I have no idea what my timing was - Could have been 10 or 40 - I wasn't tuning it was just a dyno day so I kept turning the boost up.
That was spiking to 18psi and falling off to 15ish up top. Yes I made peak hp about 5000rpms, but the tq curve was flat until it drastically fell off above 5k.

Went for a drive Sunday without changing anything - In the cold weather I saw 22psi and about 18 up top.

I honestly don't think there is much left in it even with some tuning.

The MP T70 compressor wheel is 69.1x91mm in a .70 A/R housing. The exhaust side is a T4 P-trim in either .68 or .96 A/R.

I made the numbers in my sig with a MP T70 w/.68 turbo housing, on a 90* day, running about 14-15psi. My truck has a 9.25 to 1, forged LS1 with 317 6L heads and Meth injection and tips the scales at about 5200 pounds with me in it. The DA was as stated in my sig. Online calculators say that's about 550rwhp uncorrected for altitude (sealevel correction is about 20% up here, so that would be close to 650rwhp). Not to bad if you ask me. We'll see what it does with the MP T76 W/.96 A/R E/housing runs up here come spring. I hoping to see 11's up here with this pig, lol

I have a used MPT70 with .96 AR and upgraded wheel (can't remember which-sorry) made 505Rwhp at 5500rpm...hp curve was still on the way upward.
buddy of mine with a STS rear mount on T/A who made 533rwhp and I beat him on the street everytime.

I see quick spool but also a quick redline. The new 76 is going to produce better results. If you're going stock 6.0 with no rebuild I don't see a problem making 550 reliably but anything over would be pushing it. With a rebuild I would be looking for more just because the setup could handle it. Post up more of what you're looking for to get a better idea.

i had the mpt70 on my 6.0 and made 550hp...changed to the mpt76 because of heat up top...it was out of it's effiecency but is a damn good turbo for 550 hp
