Default stock internals good for turbo

i have a 98 z28 camaro and plan on putting the ebay turbo kit on it, just wondering if my stock internals at 106,xxx miles can handle the power, and also if getting rid of the stock rear end should be on my to-do list right now.

You are on the right track with the rear end but if you are running a stock 4L60 you may also have some problems. Your stock rotating assembly will be fine depending on how much power you plan on making. There are plenty of guys well into the 500s running stock bottom ls1's. If your engine has been taken care of you should be fine. Im at 92,000 with a TTI set up and have run two different nitrous set ups in the past and have had no internal related issues.

internals will be fine to 8psi and 15* timing pump gas no meth. Up to 14PSI and 17* timing with meth. Just don't let it knock at all or its gone. And watch your A/F ratio as well. Add an 04 ZO6 cam and springs (cheap upgrade). you will blow 2nd gear out of the trans first then you will pop the rear right after you get a good tranny in it. Good luck!

Thats a very mild goal and you should have no problem meeting it. As said above good tuning is key to making power and keeping it safe. Also make sure when you pick out your set up you leave room to upgrade in the future. I once said "i would be happy with just 500" now i am wishing i had listened and given my self room to grow with my setup.

stock internals should be fine till 500rwhp, if you want to be safe get some lq9 heads to lower you CR. it will bring it down to something like 9.5:1 depending on the thickness of the gasket. also i would recommended you upgrade the stock valve springs.

good luck.

Local guy runs sts setup on stock engine with 42 pound injectors and stock fuel pump at 5psi for last several years no problem. No alc injection think runs about 15 timing or maybe 12 and think 10.5 to 11.0 afr.Could go a few more pounds but as said would set limit to around 8 on stock compression maybe 10 if you change out heads.
Don't get greedy and it should live a fairly long time. Any mistake on tuning the ringlands will be gone. Factory pistons suck. You can go a lot farther with just aftermarket pistons and better rod bolts. Stock cranks are strong. Of course if motor was apart then likely do rods at same time for extra insurance.

thanks for the help, this is really good advice. i have a coolant leak so im just gonna replace the stock radiator and and while i have it off just do the turbo install, either going with the ebay kit or just get the truck headers and have a shop here do the fab work. i havent decided yet. but im also getting a new cam, timing chain and cover, clutch and flywheel, underdrive pulley, belt, intake manifold and throttle body, injectors and spark plugs. i will definitely have to get new tires as well.

any other suggestions while im doing the shopping

descreen the MAF, by-pass the coolant in the TB, and buy a boost guage, and Air-Fuel Guage!

As the others have said, tuning is everything. I keep mine really rich, and put a lot of meth through it but it seems to have lasted (keeping fingers crossed)...I have almost 90K on my car, have put about 25K on it with a turbo. My timing under tq peak is 13 degrees and then 18 degrees up top.

i would not descreen the maf. it will change the way the maf will read the air flow.

If your buying a new radiator, I'd stand it up to give you more room. There are several people on here, including myself, have ebay build threads. You should take a look at them.

i saw the picture of yours. did you just cut out a section to fit the radiator, mount it, and make that bracket?
