Default My new c6/6.0 mani a/c setup came in pics!

I just recieved this hot side kit from KYTP. Im starting the install in about 2 weeks along with swapping out my P/A K-member for a turbo bmr member.
Whats not pictured are the manifolds that we can all imagine.

I think the quality of work is great, this is 304 stainless,3inch dp. Im going to wrap the entire hot side in black wrap.

Im using a tc78 turbo and a huge 4inch thick air-air intercooler.

Many more pics to come!!

Alex

That is what my kit will look like as well! Except with either a 4in. DP or 5in.DP and a 94mm turbo. Welds look great.

Thats a nice kit and all, but the welds look far from great in my opinion. That doesn't even looked like it was TIG welded, which it definitely should have been.

100% TIG'ed. I havent touched my MIG but once in over a year. If you want pretty that is no problem. I look for structural stegnth. The set up was designed to take the beating of a daily driven car with out all the cracking issues. It wasnt designed to have people say "Oh look at the pretty welds".

Keep me updated Alex. You too Chris.

I like how there is a reinforcement over the top of the butted together welds way to go for planning ahead. Nice set up from the pics.

Welds look good to me, I've seen plenty of those pretty stacked dime welds come apart.

Since your an expert, which welding process was used since it doesn't look like tig. Mig? Stick? Oxy-Acetylene?

^ Shooting you a PM.

Looks nice to me. I could show you some shitty tig welding if you want to see it. I'm absolutely horrible.

I plan on doing the same sort of setup eventually. You can do it all relatively cheaply and keep the AC. I love it.

Never did I claim to be an expert, but I was a welders assistant for a Shaw subsidiary that was contracted to weld all the pipes (HUGE pipes) for a plant being built down here, so I've been around welding quite a bit and I'm not half bad. I probably wouldn't trust my life to it, but exhaust and stuff is no biggie. I'm just saying it didn't look so hot as far as welds go (in response to someone saying the welds looked great). Its just stuff like theres a few big puddles, some spots that look like there wasn't good enough penetration, just stuff like that. No big deal really...

Please pardon the noob question, but why is there an extra weld here requiring reinforcement?
