Default Rear mount turbo using GM Duramax turbo ?

Anyone have the specs or used on of these for a rear mount turbo?

1994-97 gm 6.5 dsl and 1998-2000 gm5-gm8 turbos

Considering 8psi on a mostly stock 5.7 LS1

Thoughts?

Those turbos will not match your desired power level. They're puny, seriously.

Not worth the trouble...

Yep the compressor is way off if it's what i'm thinking. You really need to research before making a turbo selection. I have all the numbers for the LS1s and LT1s

there are so many threads on turbo sizing. Even turbo manufacturers' websites supplu all the info you would need even with turbo mapping. T3/T4 is most popular. Diesles make huge exhaust pressure. i dont think you would be able to spool in time to do any good. I wanted to take one off a cummins truck in class one time (a dontaed car) and my teacher gave me a big spool about how deisels turbos only work on deisels blah blah. Of course that was a 96 cummins. Duramax's are aluminun and considered the new age deisle so maybe its different?

People have used Holsets. Usually they come with big AR sizes so you block one side off is what some folks have done. Another option is to use a valve to open one side of the divided housing to control pressure, it will also serve to act as a wastegate. At the moment the only decent priced units are made by people with thier own milling machines which means for themselves. The only company making one at the moment is Sound performance, but they think $500 dollars is a fair price which is just absurd and that dosen't even get you a functioning setup yet for that price. There may be some cnc shops who will make these at a much more fair price but we will need to check into patent rights if SP even has gotten a patent yet. if you do go with a Holset I am prototyping something similar to the valve as we speak and a guy I met on here will be testing it hopefully with in a week or 2 with a holset like you mentioned that has a divided housing turbine section. If curious just do a search of all my posts and you will find the exhasut valve thread, don't worry I haven't posted very much so it is a easy find. Good luck.
