Default Cheap noname turbo

Has any body used one of those cheap no-name turbos on a rear mount set-up. What is the down side of these inexpensive units? I just paid alot of money for a Precision and found out it was too small for my power goal (didn't do enough homework). For the money I've almost talk myself into trying one.
Any advice would be helpfull.

I don't know one way or the other, but I've seen questions like this asked a lot, and the responses are always universally negative. ebay cheap turbo kits are only good for the piping and intercoolers. The turbos always seem to be chucked in the trash and replaced with a brand name turbo.

Again, this is just hearsay, but it seems to be universal.

cheap turbos blow your motor out (ebay/Chinese turbos) The boost is very unpredictable so you can never get a good tune. There are some people that run cheap turbo that last for a while but are never really happy with them.

Maybe try to find a name brand used turbo, if you wanted a good price.

I know of a person that used twin cheap turbos... And made almost or more then 900. I am not going to mention his name. He is on this board though and I will tell you this. He has not complained one time.

Some people have had success with them. Others get shaft play after a month. Spend the extra money for a brand name turbo/customer service/warranty. It's worth it in the end.

You usually get manufacturer warranty. On top of it some businesses offer an additional warranty. My friend with a turbocharged SS Silverado had a custom made garret and got a 1 year warranty on top of the manufacturers. $2,000 turbo better include some security

Just use a Master Power turbo. Best bang for the buck and a 1 year warranty.

i no of several ebay turbos that have broken the shafts. cheap would make the ebay turbos a name brand kind. i would not put one on my lawn mower or weed eater, much less my car. most people do not know that when a turbo blows up and scatters the intake propeller it goes inside the intake. it is just very little peices but they are there. a name brand turbo is less likely to do that. i have rebuilt diesel turbos and fuel injection pumps for 15 yrs. when a blade is spinning up to 180.000 rpm and it suddenly stops, things go boom and it isn't very good.

Keep in mind that when two people look at a turd, one can see it as a piece of **** while the other can see it as a work of art. That is my $0.02 on the Crap-bay turbo kits.
