Default Anybody got a engine serial number book?

I just picked up a used chevy small block engine for another FI project im starting and the numbers on the passanger side deck area of this small block are v0514tyz and want to find out EXACTLY what year and size engine this is before i start ripping into her LOL

Look at the casting number at the driver's side rear of the block, right in front of where the bellhousing goes. The number you have is a serial number, useless in identifying a block (unless you have a numbers matching car).

Default got it!

it says 397000! with a 20 alittle bit away from it up in corner of block!

The block casting number tells less of the story than the first numbers you gave us, which includes the engine suffix code. There are many engine combinations and years that may use the same block casting. Your suffix code TYZ tells me that its a 1975 truck 350 that had a 4 barrel and made 165 horsepower.
