Default F1 procharger on a stock block

I was just wondering what is the lowest amount of boost you can make on a F1. I have a friend that is willing to sell me his used one but I wont have the money to forge the bottom end till I get back from the Philippines next January. So I was wondering if I could put it on now and run low boost and be ok till then. Right now the car has patiot heads and a tr224 cam.

I don't know if an F1 will make a small enough amount of boost to be safe on the stock motor.

Just buy it and throw it on, if your motor goes, then upgrade. Or just let it sit on the shelf until you have enough to forge your motor. No sense in letting a good deal pass you by if you're already planning it for the future.

You will need to have a custom pulley made to slow the blower down it's not the best set up but you will be able to get by. What is your compression?

Just buy it, you can always sell it again. You may not get another deal to buy.

I will let you know next week. Im getting my LS6 tuned next week, mods in sig. I threw on a 5" pulley so we'll see how much boost/power it makes.

A 5.50 inch/5.75 custom made pulley will get the boost down into a safe level. Your 5.0 inch pulley will most likely make too much boost. Bob

You need to have a custom pulley made. I run a custom 5.5 on my f1A.

Would there be any difference between running a d1sc at 8 psi over a f1 at 8#

I'm no expert, but centrifugal superchargers are supposed to be more efficient at higher impeller RPMs. Now, that is only true to a point. They do eventually start to lose efficiency. However, the D1-SC will probably be more efficient at 8psi than the F1 because that's not really spinning the blower very hard.

If you can buy the F1 from a friend and then get a good deal on a trade (i.e. get some cash + a D1SC), then that's the route I would go... assuming your goal is 13psi or less on stock displacement.

The F series blowers have a higher step ratio and that will make the boost start to build sooner.

What size CI are most of the F series blowers running? Just trying to see if the F1 could be in my future or not. I was going thru the same question as the OP.
