Default launching a turbo 6 speed

took my truck to the track the other day and am struggling getting it out of the hole...

its a 6.0l w/ tc76 turbo @ 10psi, m6, in a 3500lb (w/ me) s10 on et drags(measure just over 27" w/ 3.73's

it ran a best et of 11.52 @124 w/ a 1.97 60 ft. fastest trap has been 127

i just cant seem to get any better than a high 1.9 60 ft. and ive never had trouble spinning

im getting the 1.9s by revving to about 3500 and right as the clutch starts to grab i put it too the floor and slip out the clutch.

would a 2 step help me out by leaving off a couple lbs of boost? any other tips?

thanks, Gary

2 step.....yes. Get one with timing retard though. I use the lingenfelter one on a t56 vette with twins. It completely changed the car. It also makes doing roll ons a lot of fun too.

It will go agaist the waistgate in about 2-3 secs in neutral....or clutch in. It also doesnt drop boost between gears if you power shift it, but you better have traction from heaven.

no power shifting for me, but how much of a difference do you think it made out of the hole?

and what do you mean go against the wastegate?

best way with out a 2 step is like imports do. flash reving very quickly. and try to time it on the up rev. like on gas off gas on off on off on off on off on launch. its not the easiest but it works

It works, but not near as well as a two step. The vette I refrenced can open the waist gate at 12 psi on the starting line. The best part of a two step is consistency. You can set it to make 3 psi on the line and slowly raise or lower it by either timing or rpm to tailor the launch.

The flash reving is deffinately a learned skill and seems to be prett yhard on them as well. It also pretty common to do it on turbo bikes too. The problem is, the consistency.

With a 2 step an tuning you can leave much better, but you do have to tune it. To much and youll spin, to little and your right were you are now. I saw 3 tenths in the 60 first time out, and have been slowly lowering it further from there. 1.9's/2.0's to 1.6's was easy. 1.6's to 1.5's is very track dependent.

I agree with the above two posts. Flash reving has gotten me to a 1.57 with turbo 6spd, but nothing beats a 2 step for consistency...just have a non-trans mounted T/A, I broke the back of my trans off with the stock set-up.
