Default AFR and Exhaust Leak

I've heard a lot of talk about this recently and am curious exactly how/why exhaust leaks (prior to turbo & o2 sensor) will affect Widbeand AFR's.

Any air leaks will indicate a lean reading ( ie, excess oxygen )

Whether its a leak, missfire...either or.

In theory though...on boost, assuming there is pressure in the exhaust, any leaks should be outwards, as opposed to it drawing air in.
