Default Lt1 block + boost

How much horsepower can the LT1 block handle ? Callies crank , Lunati rods, diamond pistons , splayed caps, arp head studs , arp rod bolts, AFR 227 heads with a gt47-88mm turbo . I know im ok with the internals , just wondering on how much the block can take before cracking .

at 900rwhp you get a summer out of it ...after that bearings wear out fast and lt1 heads don't support to much more anyway.....I got 1100rwhp out of my lt1....but it burns through bearings so...now its a dart block..SBC

I'm at 900-950 fwhp and 17 psi boost. It's .060" over and has been together for a couple of years now.

Yup....at about 900hp at the tire, and up...the motor won't last long. I think the block, even with fill, flexes to much...

i would save the money for an lsx block. a 427 maybe ? you get 6 bolt heads witch will prevent quite a bit of head lifting issues. and he block is proven to make over 2000whp.

With the Lt1 block head lifting wont be the problem we have 5 bolts per cylinder and you can make good power without having to go lsx.(even tho I wish I would have.lol)

Otherwhitemeat, do you think a half filled 355 would live a long time at 900-1000 rwhp? If not how much hp could you get out of it while keeping it alive for about four years?

i heard lt1's don't last for too long because they all like to eat bearing. could be wrong, i do not have much experience with LT series motors.

It think 850ish rwhp might last a while...as long as there is zero detonation and your not into it too often.....bearings and rings wear out fast...i think the block flexes too much...

At ~950 fwhp, I can see evidence of cap-walk with a 4-bolt conversion, but that's the extent of damage. Going to a dart block isn't going to help that unless you dowel the mains.

It will help at 1300rwhp... I have seen premature main bearing wear and ring wear. BTW, I have seen videos of factory blocks on the dyno, under some special camera and lights...you can watch them flex....it pretty bad! I try to find a link.
