Default Up the compression and lower the boost or keep what I got??

I have a 8.6:1 CR motor now running 15psi. Im thinking about bumping it to 10.1CR and dropping the boost down to 11psi. My goal is to get more throttle response below 3000 rpm and keeping the power close to where its at now. Im concerned by dropping the boost down that much, I would loose alot of my power. what do you guys think?

I think going with a bigger cam will make the car have even less throttle response below 3000, I know I would probably gain HP above 3000 though. Im happy with the power the car makes but I want more throttle resonse below 3000.

Your comp is low man, but its not that low for a turbo motor. I would think a cam and/or head change would suit you much better....

Also you dont have any buddy's in the pittsburgh area looking for a stock block and crank for $250 by chance do you?

I am about to do the same thing. I run 8.9:1 right now and am moving up to 9.3-9.5:1 range.

Not moving boost down from 16psi tho.

Here's a thought, how about a 4K RPM stall converter? I've been running a 5200 RPM FTI stall converter on the street for over a year and it behaves very well under part throttle.

I say to bump the compression up to 10.1 and run a meth kit and keep you boost psi the same. You will make more power and be more streetable. The only down side is you have to depend on that meth kit to keep you from knocking.

I dont think youll see a huge bump in power below 3k just by bumping compression up a point or so.Its been posted on here that every point you go up/down is worth ~3% of youre power. But what kind of power are you making below 3K to begin with?Just for the sake of argument, if youre making 350rwhp from 2-3k and raise your compression 1.5 points thats only 17rwhp.Id want to know more about your setup before making suggestions. Hell a simple spark plug change gave me a much snappier throttle off idle.

My motor is 9.3:1, around 13psi and I think it drives great out of boost. I'd just mill the heads if possible.

What cam are you running ?

Something specked leaning towards low end power will prob make more difference then CR.
