Default What rpm do you spray meth at?

How does one determine at what rpm to start spraying meth? Is it dependent on iat, timing or both?

It's dependant on boost pressure, not rpm

Great question. So the controller operates off of psi in a linear/directly proprtional manner?

You want it to come on according to boost... I use a Honeywell Heavy Duty Hobbs switch. I used to use the one that came with my Snow kit but it looked like a POS.... so I rather put my trust in a better switch.

Mine comes on at 2-3psi and stays on until I let off. Works great.

Depends on the kit, I personally have a stg 2 snow kit. With that, you select at what psi it starts spraying, and at what psi it reaches 100% spray, like outlawz racing said

I actually put together a kit for my car a few years ago for only about $60. Of course it isn't nearly as nice as the ones mentioned above, but it did work. I used a 10psi pressure activated switch that I got from NOS to kick on an industrial rated chemical pump and sprayed into the intake using a dry style nitrous jet and nozzle.

I hope this helps,

-John

Mine is set to come on at 6psi then stays on until boost goes below that. I ordered my Alkycontrol kit to come with an independent MAP sensor instead of tapping into the 3 bar MAP.

So it depends on your compression ratio and how much boost you produce. Let's say you produce 5psi @ 3000 rpms on a 9.5 compression engine, when should you start spraying meth?

it will really be up to the tune/tuner and what is good for your car

each setup will vary as far as what is optimum

The main goal of meth injection is to suppress knock so if your not knocking at 3000 rpm and have all the timing you need then your good with out it

But if your looking for more power crank the boost up or add timing But spray before you have knocking. So if it close to knocking at 5 psi spray at 2-3 psi for a safety net

is it bad to just add a meth kit and not retune the car?

you can always add power adders and what not with out tuning. IT may or may not hurt your car, depends how much you push and use it. I mean what's your car worth to you? If you don't care then do what ever. Personally I would tune after I add anything to my car. I don't have a good ear to hear things, so I'd rather play safe, drive my car longer and have fun longer, as opposed to break something then build new.

I'm not an expert in Meth, but the basic principle the way I understand it is that it cools your air intake and will make you have cooler air, so you can have more hp due to the cooler air. It probably won't hurt one bit to add it and spray it. It sounds like it's there to prevent knocking. Knocking is bad, so if your knocking and you spray then that's good.

I'm sure someone will chime in there, but personally I'd tune it.
