Default Turbo guys....

I have a buddy that bought a turbo car that has been stripped and brought back down to stock for the most part. The car now has some slp longtubes and exhaust, some 3.73's, pro 5.0 and a slp MAF and lid. He had a dyno tune done by LG Motorsports. I dont remember exactly what it put down. We go out to the track today and the best we could get outta the car was a low 13 sec pass. I was told the car still has the turbo cam in it. He didnt know that when he bought it. Nice car, only has about 20k on it. My question is there anyway that cam could be holding him back any? I know jack about turbos neither does he. I really thought with his mods and a professional dyno tune we could have got at best a 12.8 on the 315 wide bfg drag radials he had. I ran too and made a new personal best for me. I even made a pass in his and could only muster a 13.48 and I drive a 6spd myself. Could a car with a turbo cam and no turbo be hurting him like that? Car is an 02 SS with a T56. Try to keep in mind this is turbo stuff is new to me. I dont even know some specs on some common turbo cams

Is it a stock bottom end car? If it isn't a stock bottom end it might have low compression. Most engines built with a turbo in mind are in the 8:1-9:1 compression area.

Well, I know the guy he got it from and he hasnt mentioned anything to me about the bottom end being upgraded, should be stock. The purchaser mentioned he was buying items to forge the bottom end so it must be. The seller has no idea what cam is in it. We have no idea the specs on the cam and have no way of finding out unless we pull it and send it off. I would have the kid that bought it post this but he is completely clueless, more so than me

what heads does it have ?
May have 317 truck heads to drop compression.

most turbo cams are quite mild but should still do better than a std cam.

Will a turbo cam without the turbo be causing this problem?

if you dont notice any cam at idle and on most turbo cams you wont, then I dont think it will cause any problem as most turbo guys use cams close to stock like the z06 cams. And on an 02 which has the ls6 intake from factory it should help not hurt, although not much. Would be nice to know what dyno numbers it put down that should help determine the mods, and where the power curve is.
