Default Valve Spring Question

I'm fixing to install an APS TT kit on my 2000 trans am.

I'm considering adding an LS6 cam.

I know the Valve springs need upgrading will the LS6 springs be enough or will i need to go bigger/better?

Thanks
Steve

If you're running boost, you shouldn't use stock springs. You're going to want something with more seat pressure. I'm sure someone will recommend the Patriot dual golds.

Comp 918 should also be lots with the cam you said. But those partriots will also be good and if you upgrade cams later they are ready to handle it. You do want headroom with boosted cars. I have 590 lift or so on my cam and 650 lift afr springs.

I refuse to run 918's, aka the spring of death, in any of the motors we build.

How much boost will you be running? I am running the stock 7psi and the LS6 valvesprings are working great on my set-up. If I ever up the boost, a stronger spring would be needed. But I was told these are fine for the low boost. And so far they have been. Over 15k on my kit since it was installed in Fall 2007. I DD it in the warm weather and take it on roadtrips. Drive it to the carclub track rentals and play for the day. So they have seen all kinds of usage.

I'm only going to be running 7PSI until I have the engine forged, then maybe 10-12 max, but when the engine is forged i'll definitley be going with duals.

Same here. I may up the boost a bit when I rebuild and forge the engine. And of course stronger valvesprings would be a must. But until then I shall keep driving it. Just rolled 16k on the kit last night!
