There is no calculation for wastgate size. Only if you have a larger cube engine running lower boost pressure you need a rather large wastegate to "dump" all the excess exhaust to keep your boost levels in check. I use a 60mm wastegate on my T70 5.3. I had a solid 5psi without any boost spikes.

Reverse for import cars. Think a 2.0 running 30 psi can get away with a 38mm wastegate.

Makes sense...more cubes / compression / or exhaust volume = more exhaust to get "rid" of to keep the turbo in check at lower boost levels. Looks like most people are running a 44 with similar combos?

ive got a 346 with a 76mm turbo and my 38mm wastegate wont hold 8 psi, ive got a 44 on the way. some people get away with using the 38mm but id get bigger so you dont have to buy twice like i did
