Default Help with truck coil conversion!?

I ordered new truck coil packs and am wondering what else I need to get to make these work on my LS1 car.

Do I need to get a different wiring harness or can I use the stock LS1 harness?

Will the plug wires I was running with my LS1 setup work or do i have to change?

I am not relocating anything and will make a new bracket if I have to!

Any information or a link to a write up on this would be great. Otherwise I will wait till the coil packs arrive and figure it out on my own.

Thanks in advance

I bought my truck coils with brackets and harness so can't help you there. I bought aftermarket ls1 wires for fbody/vette and there is little to no slack (which worked great for me since it keeps them off the headers). But they did reach. (large square mitsubishi coils)

The truck coils have two different styles, round and square, neither of which have the same mounting holes as the ls1 coils. They use the same plugs though

This is from a post I made long time ago....

For guys who are planning to do the truck coil conversion (the square ones made by Mitsubishi), here is the list of parts you'll need

Part# 12558693 - coil

Part# 12569188 - bracket

Part# 89017477 - Harness

You'll also need the longer truck plug wires, stock or aftermarket

yup, need the truck plug wires, coils, bracket and miniharness (the one that goes from the big white engine harness connectors to the individual coils).

Why do I need to switch to the truck plug wires? Will the ones I have not reach?

And I ordered the square coils! I guess I will order the mounts and harness today.

Getting truck coils is a perfect excuse to fab up a coil relocation kit. It is actually pretty easy and can be done for a $30 + $50 to $60 for custom plug wires

Honestly not sure I have anywhere I could even relocate them in my GTO engine bay. It is packed! Plus for now I need to get it running again and then I will worry about that stuff!

Thank for the help guys!

As mentioned, I got aftermarket ls1 fbody/corvette wires and they work fine. Taylor 409' ls1 race wires.
