Default Replaced the Injectors & Alternator = A/F is RICH! Turn up the boost?

So I installed new 42lb injectors (Stock 28lbs now 42) that I had reflowed. I also replaced the alternator with a 140amp with totally new 1 gauge cables for everything. The original cables were corroded really bad, so thats why I was only seeing 10 to 11 volts. Now the car is seeing 13-14. The original injectors were lucas 42lbs.

WOT is now 10.5 A/F

Currently the car is running off the wastegate spring which is 5.5. Can I turn up the boost abit without having to retune it? Looking at getting a tru-boost. What should the target A/F be?

Yes, that will lean out the WOT, but you will still need to get the car re-tuned for the drivability. I am sure it richened up on the low end as well.

Uh yeah, you can't just swap injectors without a retune. I wouldn't even drive it, you could wash the rings out.

... wash the rings out?!?! what are you talking about? Is this honda-tech?!

Were you tuned on 5lbs with the stock 28lbs injectors???
If so, yes you can turn the boost up a little bit, but your driving out of boost is going to SUCK and you're going to get 6 miles a gallon. May foul out a plug.

On the brighter side... if you had any small exhaust leaks, they're all soon to be clogged up with carbon!!!!!! (with all that unburnt fuel that you're dumping in)

Look it up, its what happens when you run excessively rich. Hell, even the boys on Honda tech probablt know that.

Monello, did you change the IFR table for the new 42.5lb injectors? Do you have a boost ref regulator, I don't remember.

he said he just had stockers reflowed to 42s.

Just up the boost 1# at a time and monitor a/f and you should be fine.

Going from low voltage to a proper voltage would definitely make the fuel pump flow more so I can see the rich condition.

just dont make any big boost changes, do a little at a time.

11.5 afr is a good safe tune. If you wanna push it go 11.7 to 11.9...

Think i confused everyone. The car had 42pound lucas injectors, but I got my stock 28lb injectors flowmatched so I took out the lucas injectors and installed the stock reflowed to 42lbs.

The reason the car is richer is it was tuned when I was having electrical issues. So the fuel pump was barely seeing 11 volts. After replacing the coroded power cables and new 140amp alternator, it now sees 13-14 volts.

Makes sense to me.. so now it needs a retune now that the pump has the juice..

I definitely mis read it. But now you need a retune cause you are getting some new found fueling.

Hold on though, you had Lucas 42# injectors, now you have stockers that were flowed to 42 lbs. Were those both rated at the same psi? Reason I ask is because most injectors are rated at a given psi and our LS1's run higher fuel pressure than what most are rated at. For example, lets say your Lucas were rated at 42# at 58 psi; now lets say you had your stockers made into 42# at 40 psi; running those modded stockers at 58 psi would make them more like 60# (guessing here).

Your voltage thing is also very likely, just wanted to check on those injectors.

^^Good question, just FYI, the 42.5lb lucas injectors with 58 psi act like 49.05lb injectors.
