Default Rear Mount Turbo Compatibility Question

I just got this Turbo Dirt Cheap

http://www.thedieselstore.com/templa...5-9001&VehNum=

I am wondering If it will be ok in a rear mount Setup. I think its comparable to the S400. I just want to run 10lbs or so. Any suggestions are welcome. I should start fabbing up here pretty soon. Any ideas on how to hang this heavy Turbo lol

From the pics it looks like the exhaust has a 1.34 a/r and I know the sts kits come with a 0.81a/r. Basically the turbo you have will spool much SLOWER than the normal rearmount depending on the displacement of your engine. The larger ex side is prob b/c it is for a diesel that has more displacement.

Yes the Exhaust is a 1.34 A/R. I think it should spool Decent? I have seen people running 1.1 A/R on 5.3's with decent spool times

What's a spool valve? How's it work?

The A/R in the first pic is 0.60 whereas the second pic it's 1.34, or am I looking at the first pic wrong? What does your turbo say on it for A/R?

Here you go mate:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-in...ke-graphs.html

As you can see from the link RickClarke23 posted that turbo is has a divided housing. What a quick spool vavle dose is force all the exhaust gas through one half of the divided hosuing. this effectively halfs the AR (that would give you a AR of 0.67 for this turbo). smaller ARs help spool so the turbo, for it size and location, will spool faster. however smaller ARs will also cause the turbo to choke at higher RPM. so at a set presure the vavle starts to open and allows the exhaust gas to enter the turbo through both sides of the housing, thus reducing restriction at higher RPM.

i think Zombie exsplaines it MUCH better in his thread. lol

cheers

Chris.

Whats power could this turbo produce? a guy on here called 1320 (he has worked with zombie) was talking about using a turbo like that with one of these valves (see above post).

Cheers
