Default what stall for boosted car

what stall do people normally run with boosted cars? i have a 3600 stall vigilante in a 99 camaro and a d1 procharger. Is there a chance that this is stalling too high with up to 12 pounds of boost on a 347? thanks for your opinions and the car is still stock weight

It depends on what you do with the car. If you spend a lot of time on the highway with the car, then the stall is probably too high. If your car is used for recreational activities, then I don't see anything wrong with the stall, unless the converter can't handle the power and you're driving through it. When you add a supercharger to a car, you normally need to go with a stronger triple disc converter. My '99 Camaro shown below has a much higher stall than your Camaro does. Bob

I daily drive my car, highway and all. I run a 5200 FTI converter. If you leave nice and easy from a stop light you can't even tell that there is a big stall in there. That said, that high stall was setup for my nitrous motor. On a centri blower, big stall is good since the blower needs RPMs to make boost. I need to restall mine and tighten it way up as the turbo's like load and I don't see much load below 4K RPM with this converter.

Today's high stall converters are nothing like the ones 20 years ago. Today's high stall converters have pretty good street manors. One important factor is the size of the cam and motor size. Ideally you want to match the converters stall speed to where your cam/motor makes its peak torque.

I see a lot of turbo guys running the yank py3400 e that I have but mine is not installed yet. They seem to really good with it. But not as sure how good it is for supercharger applications. Its supposed to be a nice streetable converter tight around town but work good with boost.

You'll like the Yank PY3400 Extreme. It's almost like stock around the city but a tire shredder when you get on it.

My little h/c 347 with a D1 3.38 pulley at 8 lbs delivers 565 rwhp (Mustang) thru a Moser with 3.73 gears and so the PY3400 is OK for me - it's a weekend cruiser.

But the PY3400 might be not ideal for a drag only car for those who want to run mid 9's with 700 + rhwp.
