Default What are you Camaro guys doing for airflow to your frontmount?

Just wondering what you Camaro guys with frontmount intercoolers were doing for airflow. The T/A guys can just remove the plate cover and have a nice straight shot to the intercooler. I thought about removing the entire center section of the bumper, where it is recessed and then use a billet grill, that way the intercooler would get plenty of air.

Just curious to see some pictures of the camaro's with frontmounts.

Your idea is exactly what I saw recently in a pic I stumbled across. It would get even more air than the Firebird and IMO, look better than having the license plate filler gone and the bumper cut out for flow on the birds.

Do you have the pic by chance, did it look alright? I don't know if I'd like sacrificing my front end like that just for functionality...

Why's everyone want to hide the IC with a grill?

I would do what AFASTYFR1 since you have the same grill. I like that better.

For me it was to protect the FMIC - bugs, small rocks, sand, etc. I have a screen protecting the FMIC. It is a lot easier to keep clean.

Knock a hole in a tube in the FMIC - how long would it be before you discover it is there and all of the dust and junk sucked in as a result? Can a small rock thrown up from a vehicle in front of your damage the FMIC?

I don't know but small rocks have broken my windshield.

I like the look of that.

Got a question though, if I decided to leave the bumper the way it is, just leaving the sides of the intercooler exposed, how dramatic of a change in IAT's would I see?

Your bumper will be covering up 75% of the intercooler. Just trim it out.

Default Fmic

Here is a PhotoShop I did for my project. Its a pic of how much I'm planning on trimming to get the most surface area exposed possible for the FMIC ........
For me on past projects, it helps to have a picture or visualization of what your goal or end product needs to look like............
