Default Which turbo will put me in the 800rwhp range???

Well I've been doing some shopping around for a turbo, and I'm looking for a turbo that will put me in the 800 rwhp range with supporting mods. Its a front-mount 347 with 6.0 heads. I was looking at the tc-78 but I think ill only squeeze 775hp max out of it. This is a street car btw.

I'm not doubting you, but how are you so sure. I know you know something because you hang with josh and steven! Lol! No seriously how much psi you think it would take? What about lag?

Hahah because my rear-mount PT88 put 887RWHP down. You may be able to do it with an FI S-80 as well... Lag has to do with your build and cubes... there are alot of guys here running Front mout 346 or 370's with little lag on a PT88. Mine is a rear-mount and I have almost no lag (But it is a 408)..

^^^ I know I seen your car run. I'm just looking for a turbo that would put me in the 800s without me having to boost the **** out of it. Or am I dreaming? Isn't this is what turbos are made for? Basically what I'm sayin is is there a turbo I can use and make the number at ie. 15-17psi vs another turbo at 20-23psi. Or do I have it all wrong?

800 rwhp 6 speed or auto? Six speed a 76gts would do it...auto your going to need alittle more probably. The larger more efficient turbos will make the bigger numbers at lower boost.

Its a six speed car. What brand is the 76gts? Ok the bigger turbos make bigger numbers on lower boost right, so what are the disadvantages? Will it run out of turbo quicker, more lag, etc etc. Btw thanks guys for the useful information.

As long as you run a big intercooler you will get good numbers from a built motor / big turbo (76mm +) on low boost.

Did you make your own turbo setup or is it a slight variation from another kit?

I would like the combination to a safe with $1 milllion dollars...

Ok... in truth your 800hp number is easier to crack than a safe but you need to provide a little more info on you plans for the project.

Is the 347 built with a forged bottom end all ready and what the current comp. ratio on it or what is the planned CR for the rebuild if it hasn't been built yet?

Do you want 800hp on the street with pump gas and meth kit, E85 or are you looking for it with race gas at the track only or is this only for bragging rights on the dyno?

Do you have a turbo kit all ready or are you doing a custom kit and what flange are we talking about? T4 or T6 setup?

Once those basics are filled in, then you can get a more specific turbo called out for the goals of your project.

i have a 347 with a front mount pt88, made around 700rwhp (calculated et from trap speed) through a m6 and 12bolt at the time.
no lag really, i didnt notice any when you hit the throttle you were slammed into the seat, then pulled back as the turbo started to scream.
i was running about 15psi at the time so i was just getting in the sweet spot of the turbo, hopeflully once i get my th400 together and tuned ill push it past 20psi which should put me around 800-850rwhp and later get it up to 24 psi which would put me around mid-high 900rwhp
i think most have gotten to 24ish psi on the pte88 or around 1000rwhp +/- drivetrain setup.

Brother I have no doubt you will see those numbers when you turn it up! My 408/PT88 combo saw 887RWHP through a TH400 on a rearmounted setup. (19PSI or so)

I don't have a forged motor yet. I'm using the 6.0 heads but eventually go with some trickflows once the build done after a while. This car will be use for the street, I can count on one hand how many times this car has been to the track. I love doing highway runs in the car. I plan on running pump gas/meth or pump gas/racegas. I havnt stared on the turbo kit because I don't know which turbo I'm going to use so I don't know if I'm going with a t-6 or a t-4. I'm just really looking for a turbo that will put up the numbers IF I have the supporting mods.

Ill se more numbers through my 6 speed right. What is your powerband like? I think I'm going to look into the pt88.

powerband wise i needed to rev it out more to, never got to run the th400 yet, just the 6speed through 3.73 gears (definatlly the wrong gear)
just when it really started to scream i had to shift, would have like to rev it to 7200 or even 7500, but my set up made me stop about 7000.
i ran a 135mph trap at around 3700lbs raceweight
having a 224/224-114 cam i with the 347 seem to have plenty of low end grunt, i started building boost fast then when the boost hit i had to shift, 15psi hit at or before 4k rpm, with it starting around the 2.5k range
