Lsx Turbo build?
I have a lsx block that i was going lsx427 turbo with tfs245 heads, but was told that the pt88 turbo would not have enough back pressure for this size motor and i should go smaller... What size motor should i build for max power and torq on a race only build.. The reason im going 88mm is because the extreme street class that i will compete in sometimes 88mm is the max class size turbo...

i just looked at some garret 88mm turbos on forcedinductions.com and they have some pretty bad *** turbos
**New**GT-47 88T Race Cover Housing 1600 .96, 1.08 $2149
it says this turbo will support 1600hp, I dont know how much power you need to compete but 1600 seems like a hell of alot IMO.
I guess a 427 will just build the power at a lower rpm than a 370 or a smaller cube motor and the turbo will spool faster.
Link to the turbo page: http://www.forcedinductions.com/productsgarrett.htm
this is a link on how to pick a turbo for you application, this is a good link and explains alot to things like the AR and trim: http://www.forcedinductions.com/help.htm
they would probably would be good to give a call to make sure you have the right combination

Damn i just saw this to. Its a chart that shows the air consumption at a certain rpm on a 427. the chart goes to 6800 engine rpm and i dont know what you plan on turning your motor. but i guess you just need to make sure the turbo will support the amount of air needed by your motor at the max RPM you plan to use.

the whole chart is on the 2nd link i posted above and they have charts for a couple different size LS engines.

to get the most out of 88mm turbo you need to build a 360-370cid engine,a stock stroke 4'' bore engine would be perfect, run a small cylinder head(225)and a solid roller valvetrain. We have made 1700+ with fireball's combo-366 with etp 225's and a 98mm turbo. If you have any questions feel free to shoot me a pm

My question to the guys at VA speed (for me and maybe for him) when builing a 370 can the stock crank hold up on racing applications making over say about 1200hp. And what power levels do you suggest moving to an aftermarket stock stroke crank?

About 400ci is the real max for an 88, but its a little larger for the best setup. Depending on how the turbo is measured for your class, you might be able to use a cheater turbo like the Precision 98/88.

The 98/88 is one of the turbo's we were considering...So with this turbo could i go 402? so a stock crank is out of the question,so a 402 with a after market crank, and howard rods are what i was looking at.. heads could i go 235 tfs on the 402 because i went lsx block for the 6 bolt heads and i dont think the 225 come in a 6 bolt.

if a 98/88 is allowed, you could run a 400cid engine, with that being said,i would use a 4.125 bore 3.750 stroke, this allows you to put on a nice cylinder head and allow the engine to breathe properly
