Default Head and piston combination Help

Im in the process of planning a build and was curious what would work better. I would like to run a 9:1 comp ratio but would it be better to run a larger chamber head and less dish on the piston or smaller chamber and more dish? Would either way affect drivability or power?

I've heard that larger chamber is better, but that being said I'm using my stock 243's with -16cc dished pistons.

use bigger combustion chamber heads. your motor will be less prone to knocking then with 241 heads and bigger cc pistons.

317 lq4/lq9 heads will work great.

when you start using smaller pistons you start losing meat for the piston rings too.. lol I can't remember how somebody else put it but its much better to run a larger combustion chamber head than smaller piston

^^ right. You will have more meaty ringlands with a smaller dish. +1 for bigger cc heads

Larger chambers = less valve shrouding = better flow.

Just visually looking at the LS1 flat top piston vs the 5.3 dished, the dished has more meat around the outside edge, a place I see a lot of pics on here of the flat tops breaking the edge off. Also a smaller flat area will have more structural integrity than a large flat area, so theoretically given the same material thickness a smaller diameter piston would be stronger. But aftermarket stuff it would all depend on the manufacturer... to each their own and all are different probably.
